Man of the match for Preston tonight, just seen the highlights one superb reaction save and all reviews extremely glowing. Nice to hear/see. Did anyone see the whole match?
Will we be able to call him back from his loan in January when Chelsea come back with a £20M+ bid for JR ? .........
I saw the first half and Oldham were amazing, they have a great winger called Smeltz, very quick and very composed on the ball, reminded me of Hucks the way he took defenders on all the time. It was a freak of a game Oldham were much the better side, as the away side they had 62% possession and were so much better than Preston. Oldham should of won comfortably.
As we know though, possession doesn't count for much at the end of the day. I think that your statement "Oldham were amazing" is one that I thought I would never see in print. Good news about Rudd though and hopefully he will come back a class better than when he left us.
I saw part of the first half and all of the 2nd half. Well deserved he made some great saves, I think it's a bit unfair to say "Oldham should have won comfortably" Preston defended well and scored two great goals. Sure they were on the back foot in the 2nd half but IMO they played better.
Seriously, At the end of the first half the game was 50% midfield, 40% in Preston's half, 10% in Oldham's half. It was really one sided, the pen was soft but it was a pen. Oldham looked dynamic and their wing play and attacking was really good for L1 outfit.
It tells a story that Declan was man of the match, he was VERY busy and had one or 2 cleared off the line.
why are people so obsessed with possession!, it means nothing, sure Oldham had more of the ball but they didn't do anything with it. Admittedly Preston were on the back-foot but they defended really well, so a deserved win.
So pleased hes getting proper football. Ruddy won't go this January I don't think but next summer might be a different matter. If next summer Ruddy moved to a bigger club and we go a health wedge of cash it would be nice to have a potential replacement in Rudd. I genuinely have faith he can do it, he was always better than Steer.
I just used the possession as an example, the match was dominated by Oldham from start to finish hence the man of the match going to Declan!
THIS is the reason carlo nash was brought to the club. we wouldn't know if declan was good enough for league football if he was sitting in our under 21s. hopefully a few others can take advantage of loan spells in league one and two this season and maybe they can make the step up to the championship next season.
