These are the only four I can think of who would probably be better than Koscielny.
He's as close to being one of the best CBs in the world as Suarez is to being the best forward in the world. ie. not far off.

Come on!! I grant you he's better than what Arsenal have had since you were winning the league, but 5th best in the world!!! your having a laugh!!
Problem is as well that mert and verm are pretty shabby if you actually focused on getting him a decent partner at the back you could possibly have a top 10-15 CB pairing in Europe, at the moment you are way off that.
Kos is far better than Kolo now and is probably better than Kolo was at the same age. I miss watching Kolo play for Arsenal, every game he used to have one surging run and shot, not much ever came of it but it was my highlight of the game 
So the 2nd best defence last season is 'shabby', and with an additional class centre back we'd end up with a centre back pairing that might make it into the top 15 in europe?

Just to get this clear... in your mind, Koscielny being a top class centre back indicates that Arsenal fans are bitter about not signing Suarez?? Is that Skylarker logic?? That's almost HIAG/totsfan levels of 'chat'.
Why can't you just accept we, almost universally, don't rate him as highly as you do. Droning on about it isn't going to change our minds.

I'm replying to comments, not starting them. You're droning on just as much as me, thinking your opinion is fact. And not only that, but thinking your opinion is 'universal'.
Top 5... Bit lofty that, he's good but not better (or as good as) than:
Ramos, Poyul, Verane, Vidic, Ferdinand, Cahill, Luiz, Agger, Piqué, Badstubear (sp), Godin, the two current French internationals must be seen to be better than him otherwise he'd be in ahead of them and on top of that, there's most likely at least another 10 players, if not more, that are just as good if not better than him.. Still each to their own I guess.

One decent season means little, you weren't anywhere near winning anything! similarly we had the 3rd best defense in the 11-12 season and finished 8th (won the league cup mind) still no where near the top of Europe.
I like kos and think hes a top player (not top 5 in the world!!!), but without a top partner for him you won't get near any silverware even if you have good stats.
Apart from the freaks of footballing nature that are Ronaldo and Messi that is utterly subjective. What about RVP, Aguero, Suarez?... three of the best on the planet.
And how would you compare it fairly anyway? We concede 3 to Bayern in 3 hours. Juventus conceded 4. Barcelona conceded 7. But I guess with us Bayern just weren't trying eh?
This guy will be superb if he is allowed to continue in the first team, he is the only youngster Jose has given a chance to and that was because he spit his dummy with Pepe, the lad is well worth watching.
