Plenty on here and elsewhere bleating about lack of tickets last time round in the Prem. Yet for the Man City game we only shifted 1600 or so, and now the NUFC tickets are on general sale.

I hear anecdotal evidence from people which suggests that tickets are now very easy to get and falling into the hands of local rubberneckers/ 'footy fans' who are not what might be termed
    'real fans'.

Depressing to hear that we will be supported at Newcastle by a Hull couple where he supports Man Utd and she has no interest in football but they are staying over on Saturday night.

    How widespread is this?

We sold out our initial allocation at Newcastle and increased it last Wednesday, that's why they've gone on general sale.

There's still tickets available for 'real fans', but they have to apply for the ****ing things if they want us to take up our full allocations.

My point being how come all these 'fantasy football' types and their bored partners get to snaffle up the tickets?

Do we really have such apathetic fans?

I think that Man City was a really good away following (quality wise). I suppose it isn't too hard against a team like that.

It was interesting the comparison between the Chelsea and Man City away games though. If anything Chelsea was a bit of a bigger game - first game, with Mourinho and all that. But Man City was clearly a better away atmosphere (we stood for the whole game, sung for the whole game). I suppose you could put Chelsea down to the early goal, but I seem to remember everybody sitting down for kick-off.

I think a few lads (probably nutcases outside of a football ground) on the left-side really helped - getting everybody going, keeping the chants alive etc...

I do wonder what is the difference between an alright, and a good away following though. Is it just the luck of where people happen to be sat? (Singers next to singers, or spread out evenly?).

Anyway, hopefully Newcastle is an atmosphere similar to that at Man City.

I thought Man City was poor in quality and quantity.

It was like watching with the Kirkella AmDram Soc annual outing at times.

That's bollocks, the following at Man City was excellent.

As there's tickets available, the answer must be yes, as nobody has been deprived of a ticket yet.

Those who want to go(and can afford to go), need to get their arses to the ticket office.

Football- it's all about opinions isn't it?

(How can 1600 quietish fans be described as excellent, ffs?)

I know my grandad, who has been going to every game, home and away for years, has started to miss away games. The reason being, people stand up for the full 90 minutes, he can't do that due to a bad back.

I was in the away end.

It was quietish and most fans watched passively.

A number of Man City fans talked about how we outsung them on their forum, not that it was too much of a challenge, their fans were some of the worst I've seen.

I'm not one who is obsessed with standing up, and all that stuff. But the atmosphere is generally better when stood up.

I have been saying for a while though, that it would be nice if our ticket office (or the clubs providing the tickets) could split them into two sections (bottom 10 rows, or something) - so that those who wanted/needed to sit, could do so without it causing problems.

Why doesn't he just tell the ticket office and get a front row ticket, it's not rocket science.

No wonder you've got it wrong, if you'd sat with the City fans, you'd know how good it was.

It's not as easy as that! If it was that easy, it wouldn't be a problem.

It is as easy as that though. When you go into the ticket office, you can just ask them if you can choose a specific seat.

I had to do it for a couple of mates for Leeds away last season.

Odd that at Man City they allow standing.

Most Prem grounds sitting is rigidly enforced as it affects future capacity numbers (standers need more room that sitters, so they scale down the numbers allowed to accommodate that), yet at Man City they turned a blind eye.

No idea what game you where at.

A very close friend who is a Man City fan was surprised we took so few, but said we had one of the best atmosphere's he had seen in the Premier League, mainly as we sung the whole way through.

I have to concur to, from where i was it was a great atmosphere.
