He's a bit tubby, ain't he? And he doesn't suit stubble.

Prediction: He wouldn't have been good for us. Don't think he will last too long at Sheffield United either. His forte is fantasy football, not owning a club. I think he will come a huge cropper. Football will bankrupt him.

I don't want a billionaire to bankroll the club, I'm happy he didn't choose us

I don't want a billionaire either. I'd much rather we paddle about in mid table mediocrity for the next ten years. None of this nonsense of overpaing clubs 600k for talented players we don't need. Far better off with our owners who admit they know nothing about football. I'm so happy we didn't get that billionaire

So he turns down the offer to buy us for millions and buys Sheffield Utd for a quid. I doubt our debt stopped him buying us more the cost of the shares. I doubt they will get to the top tier any quicker than us.

Cheap buy ... why did he do the deal the day AFTER the window closed? His acid test will be how much he is prepared to spend. Then there is FFP as well, so let's see how Blades look in two years time. GFH, for me, have done a nice job so far, cut out all the Bates rubbish and flushed it away ... bought Murphy & Wootton who should both be quality Leeds players for years to come ... kept McCormack who otherwise would have gone on the first bid ... brought in a good manager and supported his focus on the Academy ... nah, Blades can have their Shake My Wallet And See What Falls Out, he ain't gonna do a Man City.

As he says, when GFH bought Leeds they offered him a stake but at the time the club had debt ... understandable as Bates was still putting up smokescreens. Let's see how his fantasy football knowledge helps Blades, so far it looks as if he is going to invest to help with debt, then look at buying players for a quid.

<laugh> I sense sarcasm in your post...

But in all seriousness, I hate Man City and Chelsea for what there club has become and I reckon it would end up putting me off Leeds if that ever happened to us. I can take all the lows of almost going out of business and the lower depths of the football pyramid but I will not accept the club "doing a Man City". It is everything that is wrong with football and I would feel far too hypocritical to not agree with it if it were Leeds in that situation. I would feel far more proud of the club for spending wisely, bringing players through the academy, building the club sensibly and it taking us far more years to become successful again. I imagine most people would disagree.

Silly me,<doh> I missed it completely, thought he was serious.

I am glad we missed him as he doesn't have $18bn, just a few hundred million at best. The sort of fish you'd throw back and let it grow a bit bigger

Billy, you've not read it properly!

The spending at United has begun. The prince concluded his deal to take 50 per cent four days before the transfer window closed. 'But we didn’t announce it until afterwards because player prices would have gone up,' he said.
The 'big' signing was 20-year-old Belgian midfielder Florent Cuvelier from Stoke, with former Everton youngster Jose Baxter, 21, also among seven players coming in.

According to Forbes, his fortune is estimated to be $600M, which is $125M less than the current Gulf Finanace House debt!!

Time will tell if this is another fine mess Uncle Ken caused with his buy now pay me later accounting!

However my gut feeling is that this will end badly for the blades!

Good news is that GFH were looking for investment.

Why do you think we need bankrolling to compete? Also, how do you propose a billionaire bankrolls us with ffp in place?

Owners willing to pump £5m into us should do it if spent wisely. A couple of creative players and a striker banging a few goals in the crowds will return thus sorting out ffp which far too much is being made of. A club in the Championship is allowed to show no more than an £8 million pound loss on their accounts, there is NO WAGE restriction http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/financial-fair-play-explained.php

FFP is going to be monitored on annual accounts, sign a few players if they don't get you promoted sell them again before you file your account year end, one example of an easy way around it.

Could start by buying back Elland Road and Thorpe Arch. Frees up 3m a year without affecting ffp. I'm sure some creative accounting will get some of these guys past it anyway if they really want

only works if other clubs have millions unspent at end of year wanting to spend.Apart from Arsenal don't think they will be many in this position.

"...because player prices would have gone up..."

Look, he bought half a club for £1, that is what made him do it. He is worth £120m which is not a lot to have if you intend to bankroll an English club. Nope, can't see him spending big money on players, maybe finance one or two deals but no crazy money being thrown around.
