Went to the game today with my Pompey supporting friend, your supporters were magnificent throughout. Plus points - Angyemang's skill - for a big man he has unbelievable balance and a most delicate touch; Barcham's work rate and direct, forceful running; your CBs - wonderful; Moo2's laser-like pass to change the direction of play for your second goal. Minus points - the substitutions turned the game and were an absolute nonsense. OK, Barcham was knackered, not unsurprisingly, but three subs together wasn't the answer. Your whole pattern disintegrated and if it hadn't been for the lino's flag in the sixth minute of added time, you'd have gone down; Holmes didn't have a good game and perhaps should have been subbed twenty minutes earlier. Excellent game overall, though.
Incidentally, I was at you game today, in the home end with the wife (big Cheltenham fan, also Fiorentina) You probably did deserve to win, just about. That said, I ****ing loved it when they equalised.
Unfortunately, there was a certain amount of hesitation with both of the goals, PL but that was really a manifestation of the poor communication at some points in the game - there are 'quiet' teams and 'loud' teams and you've got one that at times today resembled a congregation of Trappist monks - several players got caught in possession because the only warning they got that they were being closed down came from the crowd. You need a couple of big mouths in there pumping out instructions.
