So both Marussia's were slower on their second attempts in Q1:

Attempt 1: Bianchi 1:27.085, Chilton 1:27.480
Attempt 2: Bianchi 1:27.197, Chilton 1:27.740

The reason why?
Bianchi's DRS didn't work, and Chilton had an extra 20kg of fuel onboard <doh>

1st corner...Webber front wing touches Vettel's rear wheel....Vettel has a tyre puncture... Massa takes out Alonso for calling the team idiots....Hulk wins the race! Lol
Oh.... And Di Resta ends in the gravel pit...and is heard on the team radio....who the hell from Force India put that sand there? It wasn't there a lap ago....<doh>

Evening all, just seen what's happened today, missed Qualifying (bloody work). My take on today:

1. Alonso is staying at Ferrari regardless, he may be angry with them, but there are no better seats, and they'd be mad to replace a driver of his ability
2. Nice one Felipe, about time he looked out for himself instead of the team. He's probably already been replaced, so no point being Alonso's lackey now.
3. Great job by Hulk, hopefully it rains tomorrow, so he can have a legit chance of winning.
4. Great job by Ricciardo, good way to impress your new bosses
5. Hamilton <laugh>

Of course, they'd make sure he had an inferior team mate this time ;)

Yep, he screwed up royal today!

Compromised himself by going off an ruining his first run, which put him in the place of being in traffic for the second run. Not even convinced that Merc have the package for him to come through the field either with Rosberg not looking too quick either.

I really hope Hulkenberg scores well tomorrow and it isn't Bottas all over again. Normally I'd hope it rains for Hulk, but I think he can hang on tomorrow, it wasn't that freakish, he was fifth in Q2 I think so his pace is genuine.

[Bthia is what Pirelli had to say:[/B]

The Pirelli mystery strategy predictor’s opinion on tomorrow’s race:

In theory, a one-stop strategy is the fastest for the 53 laps of Monza, but a fast car could make use of a two-stop sprint strategy – so teams are likely to build in some degree of flexibility to their strategy plans.

The fastest one-stop strategy goes as follows: start on the medium, change to the hard on lap 25 and then run to the end. Equally as fast could be to start on the hard tyre, with a change to the medium on lap 28 and then run to the end.

An alternative two-stop strategy is: start on the medium, change to the medium again on lap 22 and then run a final set of hard tyres from lap 41.

Not sure what Hamilton will be able to produce with the damaged floor and all....but maybe we will see some rain after his first stint on hardship and everybody have to come in for a second stop for wet tyres..who knows. He could find himself back up there....I think we'll will see a coup,e of safety cars. Too much bad blood is out there tomorrow...nobody seems to be in a good mood and the rain isn't going to help. DiResta will try to get the gravel pit removed or the team wouldn't hear the last of it..lol

Jenson Button: Ferrari seat is great opportunity

Jenson Button made it clear today that he doesn’t yet have a contract with McLaren for 2014 – but he insisted that he fully intends to stay on.

Nevertheless in theory he could still be a potential candidate for another team, such as Red Bull or Ferrari.

Button has an option to continue with McLaren, but when asked about his future he indicated that he didn’t know why there had been no confirmation from the team that he will be retained.

“I think I have a contract for next year, but I don’t think it’s got a signature on it yet!,” he said. “I really want to be here next year. You might think that’s strange after this season, but I think this season is good for us in a way. We’ll be a much stronger team this year. But as you say, you haven’t heard the confirmation of that yet from the team. I think you’ll have to wait for that.”

Asked by this writer if the real attraction was the arrival of Honda in 2015, he said: “Yeah, there’s a lot about this team in the future that appeals to me. It’s very exciting, there’s new challenges. But even next season, I’m excited about next year. You’ve got the initial challenges of the engine and trying to understand the car, and aerodynamics, and the power unit.

“If you put the time and the effort in I think it can make a big difference this winter, understanding the car and the tyres. It’s something I’m pretty good at, so hopefully it will make the difference next year.”

Meanwhile he made some interesting observations about other potentially available seats.

“I think Red Bull is done. I think the Ferrari seat is a great opportunity for any driver in F1, to get the opportunity to race for a team like Ferrari is very exciting, what they’ve achieved, the passion within the team, the culture is very interesting. Hopefully someone that deserves it will get the drive.”

I think Red Bull will split strategies. I can see Webber being on a 2 stopper, given he's normally pretty hard on his tyres.
