So Alonso NEEDS Massa to give him a tow in qualifying and because he didn't he's thrown his toys out of the pram!? Pathetic, that is really pathetic. Alonso yet again showing that unless he is wrapped in cotton wool and molly-cuddled he loses his head and has a big cry.
Said this on another forum, I wonder if Alonso's behaviour will grant Massa a reprieve - I doubt Ferrari will want to go into next year, with all the new technical regulations, with two new drivers.
It doesn't look good and they will take an absolute pasting in the Italian press over today's antics and Alonso's outburst. It's an embarrassing situation and if supported Ferrari I'd be disappointed with them today.
Meh looking at the body language of Alonso it doesn't look like to me he is pissed off with Massa but I think Ferrari's focus of the tow in general.
Thing is if Alonso said it: please log in to view this image If Kimi said it: please log in to view this image
In other news, Sutil's been given a three-place grid drop for impeding Hamilton. You had one job Sutil. And that's to get me sweepstakes points
Paddock Spy ‏@PaddockSpyUK now We hear from a very reliable source that the speculation between Raikkonen and Ferrari is growing with a contract set to be signed.
Gotta love Rob Smedley. I think the opposite, if Alonso goes they both go, Massa's compliance is the only thing keeping him at the team. Raikkonen's far more laid back than Alonso, if he was Ferrari's lead driver I think they'd partner him with the strongest driver they could get their hands on, i.e. Hulkenberg. I really hope Massa goes at the end of this season, I think he's key to Hulk getting a promotion next season (either replacing Massa or Kimi). Hulk couldn't have sent out a stronger message today, outqualifying both Ferraris at Monza. I really can't see Alonso leaving Ferrari for numerous reasons. His behaviour today though could strengthen Raikkonen's claim, if Alonso is opposed to Raikkonen as a team mate I think Ferrari will be less inclined to bend over backwards for him than they were a few months ago.
The reason I mention it is because I suspect Alonso and di Montezemelo's relationship is approaching Whitmarsh/Hamilton levels and has possibly even surpassed them. Alonso is being kept on at Ferrari in a strictly professional capacity (in spite of his growing unprofessionalism). I agree with your comments about Raikkonen but then I wonder if Ferrari would consider reuniting the Raikkonen/Massa team - essentially calling a Mulligan on Alonso's time at the team. The only reason that Ferrari would keep Massa - and I'm aware I've argued against them doing so in the past, but hear me out - is very simple: he has proven, time and again, that he can and will be a team player. I don't doubt that Ferrari is an extremely one-way process; I suspect that Alonso has one eye on Massa's data when he sets up his car and is somewhat less forthcoming about his own (obviously I have no proof of this). For that reason, especially with the upheaval next year, it would seem advisable to maintain at least some aspects of the current team. I can't see Alonso leaving Ferrari for the simple reason that I think he wants to be paid off, like Prost or Raikkonen. What I definitely can't see any more is him lining up for Ferrari next season. I think he has nothing but contempt for the team and I think that the feeling is mutual. As for Hulk, love to see him at Ferrari but I don't think it will happen next season. He might well replace Raikkonen at Lotus though. One positive he can draw from this year is that he's gained lead driver experience which has been very positive for him (definitely wouldn't have got that if he'd got the Mclaren seat, for instance).
****ING HELL! Jon Noble ‏@NobleF1 Caught up in an amusing press scrum with Luca di Montezemolo just now. He shouted at Alonso to ask if he was driving for Marussia next year
*Mouth open* Massa: "Fernando should complain less, because it has always been behind me (slipstream)'' explained the Brazilian to Italian media referring to Fernando statements which indicated that in the last 100 runs, he had been ahead in most. http://encurva.com/2013/09/07/massa-fernando-debe-quejarse-menos/
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109721 It was all a big misunderstanding and Alonso was actually praising the team! ""I said in the radio that Felipe was a bit too far now if we want to do this, so they slowed him down a bit and we started the last attempt at the same distance as always," said Alonso. "They didn't put out the last radio message, when I said thank you to Felipe and thank you to the team, and that it was perfect in the end." Hmmm, what do we think boys & girls?
