Just watching SSN & the foreign Prince investing in Sheffield Utd & it got me wondering. We've seen people come into clubs with money from all over the world. Given the recent problems some have had with Allams, what sort of owner would you have?
A local businessman or a complete unknown from abroad?

The Allams will always make a couple of mistakes down the line. But at the end of the day they saved the club and have done extremely well getting Bruce in, getting back to the prem and providing the cash to build the best City team we've ever had. I'd much rather have a local businessman with ties to the city and who actually care about the area.

Some foreign owners treat their club's as a play thing... there's no real passion there to start with and thats not a good thing.

We're very lucky having the Allams as owners.

Despite some misgivings I have over the Allams' communication with the supporters, we have to understand their roots are Egyptian even though they've been in the region for 40 years.

Without them the club may not have existed much longer.

That genuinely seem to want to do the best for the club's future & it's a positive for me they have a local connection wheras a completely foreign owner may well see a club as his "plaything" or a "temporary project", "asset stripping opportunity" etc.

We all recognise some areas perhaps where it's advisable not to tamper too much. Adding "Tigers" to the club name may or may not "grow the brand", "open Asian markets" and all these concepts marketing people love to use, but I wouldn't want to alienate the core people at a football club if I were a rich owner.

Goodwill & reputation can't be quantified on a balance sheet, they are worth something however..

I have heard it said that many foreign owners want a european club for some very strange reasons eg a high profile in the west means less chance of being brought to trial in their native lands.
One day the Allams will sell up and the new owners will have many fans doubting their motives.
For the present I am very grateful to the Allams.
I know there is a lot of ill feeling re. the name change but I trust the judgement of the Allams to do what is right for the club over many who criticise them.
Like anyone in business they will make mistakes and these will be clung to with relish by the anti brigade. It is tough being in charge if you are thin skinned but the Allams have a track record of success and genuinely seem to do a lot of good things for the community(many of which are seldom heard of).
If an "official" name change would bring in more money I would be all for it despite the fact that I would continue to call them "city"
The Newcastle fans who opposed the stadium name change are up in arms about the poor transfer dealings.I think 10 million more income each year would help any club build a stronger team

In terms of foreign owners they will obviously all be different. Roman (not going to try to spell his surname - given my record on spelling mistakes) at Chelsea was a far better bet than old Kenneth Bates, and presume the new Leeds owners are better than him too, but Roman has tilted the transfer market in this country to an unhealthy state.
Then we have the Notts County owners who appointed Sven - which only Nottm Forest fans would have termed as a good ownership.

FFP now it is in will have an effect on all owners, as we saw in the transfer dealings in the Championship over the summer (no matter what fans of some clubs believed the FFP rules were).

Personally everyone knows I am a fan of Papa (including the Tigers name change - but that has been talked to death by everyone), but considering what Mr Winkleman did with Wimbledon, what Mr Lloyd did with us and the Bartlett/Duffen regime (also which has been talked to death) we seem to have a good owner (no one on here knows all the inner dealings at the club - so we have to assume certain factors, which may come out differently when Papa retires and maybe sells the club if Allam Junior doesn't want to be next owner).

Ideally the club should be owned by a man/woman (it is 2013) with local knowledge and who has access to the funding the club has, and who will also pass the club on to another person with the local knowledge and funding if the owner can not fund the next step up.

this is all bollocks - a football team is not a brand - all the so called fans in the far east want is a football team that wins - they dont care about the name etc - Man U Liverpool, Barcelona etc - these are the teams that are followed, not because their name is appealing but because they win - Allam is ****ing clueless if he thinks adding Tigers is going to create some massive untapped investment - so far its alienated fans who refuse to buy into the whole rebranding thing and now refuse to buy a programme and refuse to buy off the concourse , demonstrate against the name change and will almost certainly refuse to renew season passes if the team get relegated - the only way Allam will succeed in this is if he ploughs even more money in - he's already demonstrated that he's not prepared to do this with the Shane Long debacle of misdealing, lies and cheap negotiating tactics - the guys small time and he's out of his depth with the big boys

Hull City Tigers is NOT Hull City AFC - different team - you sound like a sheep - the Wimbledon fans proved that ****ing about with a team is not acceptable -

Spot on. Being completely non-pc, Plastic spastic comes to mind

Wannabe che Guevara key board warrior. Rants show a complete lack of knowledge about what AA and EA actually have done, do, and plan to do.

It's about time the British royal family got in on the act. Who better than Prince Phillip as our clubs figurehead, with his famed respect for other cultures.

Think about it, Hull City Royals. The royal family are even more popular than tigers with foreigners. For starters the yanks would literally suck us all off to get a piece of that.
