This is going to sound awful Phil but I don't mean it to, some of the areas I pass through makes me wonder if I'm actually in England at the time. There are areas where they've been over run and because if political correctness gone mad they're too scared to do or say anything or else they're called racists.

I went to Crystal Palace a few seasons ago and after the game outside the ground walking to the coach I got told to Fcuk off back to Wales and to shag some sheep. The people who said this were not white English people, they would have been more at home in a mosque. The Palace fans walking past apologised because they were embarrassed and were telling us that they had to put up with things like this on a daily basis. The police stood by too and did nothing, well not until some of our loons took exception and gave them a good hiding.

At West Brom many moons ago (the play off game) was refused service in a pub in Handsworth because we were white !!. I couldn't bloody believe it and I remember going to a game at Bradford years ago too. It was a bonkers game we won 6-4 but I remember vividly stepping off the coach and the smell hit me for six. You can guess what it was the locals were cooking. Like I said, thank fcuk I didn't live anywhere like that they have enough problems without having to worry about us.

Dreyfus good post mate and very objective of you, not easy but your contributions on here are always appreciated, I have a friend who works high up in a government department, his wife is Welsh, and he is English, and out of respect for his welsh speaking wife, he learnt to speak Welsh, and his mastery over the welsh language, is something to behold, he loves speaking it, and has come to love Wales and the Welsh very much, he lives in the village of Bryncoch, Neath....................<ok>

Bradford is just like Townhill but on a good day Phil  (cue Swim to come in ranting)

I've sen some real ****holes on my travels but to be fair a few decent places too. Harpenden stuck out as a nice place, had a pint there on the way to Luton. Luton itself was a dump. If Poland played Pakistan in cricket and they all stayed in to watch it on the telly then Luton would be deserted. Some other notable ****holes are.............

Liverpool, Scunthorpe, Hull, Leeds, Portsmouth, Tottenham and the worst by a country mile (no its not Shepherds Bush) is Middlesbrough. What a fckn dump that is, I thought the Germans had been bombing there again and I have to say, no disrespect meant but their fans are the ugliest bunch of bastards I've ever seen. I'm sure the buggers must all be into interbreeding and have webbed feet. The fattest fcukers I've ever seen were down at Pompey. Went there the year we went up and we drew 0-0. After the game this clever bastard shouted across the street "see you next season, you're not going up". So I shouted back "no you won't you fat bastard you'll have died of a fckn heart attack by then"

Yes, I know that was naughty but I had sunk a pint of shandy so it wasn't my fault <whistle>

    Let's go throught this...
If Zaha was born in the Ivory Coast to Ivorian parents then he should be representing Ivory Coast really as in my eyes that is his nationality.

"People always accuse me of being 'racist' or 'a bigot' when I say this. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with miscegeny, just that the resultant progeny are neither here nor there".

"Neither here nor there"...... I do find that a little offensive. Since when has anything got to be that black and white. It seems as ridiculous to me as saying that the resultant progeny of a blonde mother and ginger father is neither here nor there. It really is that simple. If people judge on skin colour, why don't we judge on hair colour as well - just like Hitler. There was a line in American Dad where Francine says "I'll be fine here - I'm white.....and blonde.....and that's the best kind of white". Does that line have some truth in it ?
Children usually end up looking like their parents. Some more like the father, some like their mother... if a child looks a bit like both - are they neither here nor there ?.

"I'm someone who puts the emphasis on ethnic make-up when it comes to defining nationality, as opposed to simply being born on a patch of land that one or both of ones parents have no ancestral connection to"

I am Welsh, I have an ancestral connection to this land and my daughter was born and lives here..... she will grow up with an ancestral connection to this land also. It is actually possible to have an ancestral connection to more than one country - just like some have an ancestral connection to more than one town - this does not dilute anything. It's not like it's one or the other. Two £10 notes have the same value as a £20 note.

Most borders are man made. Which side of the border you are born on doesn't change the fact that you are the same person. If the English border was expanded by a few miles in each direction next week, future children would be born and grow up in a different country to their already born siblings. They are still the same people.

"it's an intrinsic Germanic problem of thinking they are superior than everyone else".

Sorry Phil, but I cannot agree with you there. My experiences indicate the exact opposite.

I worked for a U.K.based German Company for nearly 20 years, and the Germans who came over here were hard working, honest, conscientious, decent people who loved being in Wales, and many married Welsh girls, and now live amongst us.
In addition,I met and became romantically involved with several German girls who I actually met in Swansea.
Exchange visits became the norm, and I was treated like royalty when in German homes. The people couldn't have been kinder.
Many British people are still unable to forgive the Germans for two World wars, but believe me,the modern day Germans are deeply embarrassed by some of their history.
Occasionally, their sense of humour would be put to the test, and mentioning the war,John Wayne and 1966, would usually get a (mild) reaction, but they soon cottoned on to the British sense of humour, and would reciprocate. Winding them up was good practice for 606. But it was always good natured.
The only time I ever had a problem with a German,(male),was when I promised to put him through a Bangkok window,(third floor),if he ever spoke down to me again. He didn't,and I didn't.
For sure there are bad Germans,in the same way there are bad Welsh and English, etc.,but I would happily live in Germany.

So,going back to your original line which I quoted above,I think your statement better describes the English than the Germans.

I agree. I've met lots of Germans when diving overseas and I've always found them to be cultured, polite and contrary to popular belief humourous. This business of equating the English with Germans is past its sell by date.

On the other hand are we that different to the English? Of course not. You can't really tell us apart. I vividly remember being at the airport in Sharm and waiting for the plane. The queue was full of Brits, some English, some Welsh and a couple from Scotland that we spoke to. The line was full of overweight guys (and gals) covered in tats, some wearing dirty white vests whilst most of their kids were running around screaming and generally misbehaving. The parents either ignored them or shouted obscenities at them to try and get them to stop.

Right next to us was the line for Milan. You can imagine. <doh>

Why many Brits think we're a cut above is beyond me. My experience tells me the opposite.

I worked in Hamburg for a week in May this year. I found the Germans to be very friendly, educated and welcoming. It was a pleasure to work with them, nothing was too much trouble. Even when we were out at night in a few bars the people were great.
I think it's just a bit of a stereotype that the Germans are ****ers. I didn't see any "superiority complex" there. However I have come across this several times with the English.

I'm from Beverley, 10-miles north of Hull, and whilst Hull is an absolute ****ing dump (something I tell my fellow HCAFC fans on this very board quite regularly), it's nowhere near as bad as London, Luton, Watford, Bradford, Middlesbrough and God-knows how many other places.

You are quite right Daily, hate is a terrible thing, how can a body hate someone they don't even know. Racial stereo types are also stupid. One of the reasons I dislike nationalism is that hate quickly rears its ugly head.

I think hatred of the English or any other nationality is a generational blight. Same thing happens in Northern Ireland. Such crap is passed down rom father to son and is rarely based on one's personal experience. How can any contact with an English person (for example) engender such hatred for a whole people? It's nonsense. You can virtually guarantee that anti-English bigots have anti-English bigots for dads. They've never been anywhere and they've never experienced the wider world. Before anyone starts yes I'm sure there are exceptions who get their sources of bigotry from elsewhere. Call it what you like, it's still bigotry.

Typical parochial crap that sadly us Welsh are known for.
