Not sure how accurate this is England team to face Moldova: Joe Hart Kyle Walker Gary Cahill Phil Jagielka Ashley Cole Steven Gerrard Jack Wilshere Frank Lampard Danny Welbeck Theo Walcott Rickie Lambert the last time we played Moldova http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ashback-1997-World-Cup-qualifier-Wembley.html England Team then ENGLAND (3-5-2): Seaman, G Neville, Southgate, Campbell; Beckham (Ripley, 67min; Butt, 76), Scholes, Batty, Gascoigne, P Neville; Ferdinand (Collymore, 82), Wright Unused substitutes: Pallister, Walker, Le Saux, Lee Who would you pick out of todays team over that team? 4-4-2 Seaman G Neville Southgate Campbell A. Cole Gerrard Gazza Fat Frank Scholes Ferdinand Wright So only three of the present team for me.
Same for me too though I did um and err about including Becks (I'll get **** for this I know). I'd have definitely have Walcott and Batty as two of the subs...(more **** to come then...)
Perhaps I'm comparing them unfairly i.e. Batty at his best and Wilshere is comparatively just off the starting blocks. Depends on how you look at it.
England are better now apart from the defence and gazza Cahill and jagielka are bollocks as is hart And gazzas gazza
All the players in that team are quality players. Even who is only just on the fringes of the national team is way better than any striker we've seen at City in the time I've been going.
England team to face Moldova: Joe Hart Kyle Walker Gary Cahill Phil Jagielka Ashley Cole Steven Gerrard Jack Wilshere Frank Lampard Danny Welbeck Theo Walcott Rickie Lambert the last time we played Moldova http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...r-Wembley.html England Team then ENGLAND (3-5-2): Seaman, G Neville, Southgate, Campbell; Beckham (Ripley, 67min; Butt, 76), Scholes, Batty, Gascoigne, P Neville; Ferdinand (Collymore, 82), Wright Unused substitutes: Pallister, Walker, Le Saux, Lee Seaman Neville Southgate Campbell Cole Wilshere Scholes Lampard Walcott Ferdinand Gazza The middle 3 could play many different ways, no real need for a strict holding midfielder in there
Back then we had Ian Wright and Les Ferdinand as backups to Shearer. Now we have ****ing Welbeck. We need a new Gazza (in footballing terms obviously), hopefully someone like Barkley will become that.
Oh, and my combined team would be: Seaman G.Neville Southgate Campbell A.Cole Gerrard Lampard Scholes Gazza Wright Walcott Beckham, Ferdinand and Batty would be on the bench as would Wilshere.
ot but does anyone know what mcgregors inury is? he's suspended for the belgium game tonight be he's already ruled out of tuesdays with injury
What the hell is Jack Wilshere doing playing tonight ? ffs Roy if we need JW to beat Moldova then we are in serious trouble. Also, Leighton Baines should be at left back tonight. Glad that Lambert starts though.
As a combined team I'd go for 4-3-1-2 as follows Seaman G. Neville Southgate Campbell A.Cole Beckham Gerrard Scholes Gazza Shearer Rooney I've fiddled cos I've included the two strikers who have been omitted due to injury. In my defence all the other strikers to choose from are gash. With Shearer and Rooney included it looks a decent team.
I agree on the Baines bit. He's overtaken Cole in terms of performances for me. The reason for Wilshere playing is probably because he didn't pick any other decent central midfielder (Carrick and Cleverley can **** off). He should have called up Thudd... Saying that, He probably could have started Barkley. It is Moldova. I can see Lambert being England's main striker at least until the World Cup. Not joking either. Only Sturridge is scoring as many atm.
He isn't an out-and-out striker though. He plays behind the main striker. The player who complimented him best was Owen. The two played great together. The last partnership that worked well at international level was with Defoe, who hardly started anyways.
I know what you mean about Rooney but he's not a winger, he's not a midfielder, he's not an attacking midfielder so he must be a striker ! Owen could well have been England's all time top scorer by now if he'd have stayed fit. Rooney still might achieve that magical 50 figure - time will tell.
Had Owen never had that injury at the 2006 World Cup, it would have been certain that he would break Bobby Charlton's record. All 'what ifs' though. As is most of the England NT's recent history...
I'll tell you this much, if Lambert goees to the World Cup, we'll at least have 1 player who won't **** up in penalties.
