    Where is the Finland Station?

For an extra point which classic pop song of the 80s does it get a mention in (the band is still working)?

The Finland Station is in St. Petersburg, (unless there is another one somewhere).
I've no idea about the song though.

Correct Koln. The Finland Station was the point of disembarkation for Lenin on his return from exile in Switzerland to Russia, kicking off the Russian Revolution, and the line "from Lake Geneva to the Finland Station" is to be found in West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys. Which I think they got from Edmund Wilson's epic history of socialism "To the Finland Station".

Socialism - for you youngsters that was the political belief system that dominated the 20th century in various forms - from its Keynesian economic version under both Tories and Labour in post war UK, the "New Deal' politics that survived in the US until Reagan, to its totalitarian versions in Russia, China and Germany. Pretty much gone now though except in France and Germany and their respect for workers rights.

Well I was in the seat for exactly 23 mins. Thought I'd fit it in with Stan's theme. Absolutely correct by the way - although I'm not certain what the R. stood for, maybe Regina (The Crown). Over to you Beth.

Where they mutineers from the new model army in Cromwell's time. With Leveller connections and one of them, Perkins I think, being taken at a skirmish with the Diggers of St. George's Hill. The mutiny may officially have been about pay and conditions but could also have been more political in nature.

Just an aside, a direct descendant of Loveless was my Deputy Head at Tulse Hill Comprehensive School in the late 60s, I'd certainly have known that answer...
