http://www.givemefootball.com/pfa-transfer-list Right, my order 1) Thomas Cruise (20yrs, Left Back, 6"1') released by Arsenal 2) Rory Fallon (29yrs, Left Forward/Centre Forward, 6"3') released by Plymouth 3) Jon Harley (31yrs, Left Back, 5"9') released by Notts County Others, Igor Coronado (18yrs, Left Forward/Centre Forward, 6"5') released by MKD, when our U18's played MKD they were crap except for Coronado who gave us all sorts of problems. Ryan Jarvis (24yrs, Left Forward/Centre Forward, 6"1') released by Leyton Orient, always thought of him as competent. Some interesting names..... Semedo is described as a Centre Back! so that's obviously where he wants to play.
I got bored at page 32 so missed any beyond there Jeremie Aliadiere Giles Barnes Lee Bowyer Michael Brown Nathan Ellington Jason Euell Rory Fallon Danny Gabbidon Anthony Gardner Ricardo Gardner Marlon Harewood Jon Harley Radostin Kishishev Abdoule Meite Sean O'Hanlon Andy Reid Bolo Zenden Thomas Cruise Therry Racon Joe Anyinsah Jose Semedo Kelly Youga Marcus Bent An ambitious list? Yes but if you don't buy a ticket you don't win the lottery and my list is in no particular order.
During a lull in activity on my night shift Iâve found the time to have a little rummage through the PFA Transfer list. Iâve tried to put together a list of realistic targets who operate in a position where we need to strengthen. Imo all these names should be on our radarâ¦: 1) Scott Cuthbert - 23 year old, CB 2) Wayne Thomas - 32 year old, CB 3) Matthew Sadler - 26 year old, LB 4) Alan Sheehan - 24 year old, LB 5) Jonathan Douglas - 29 year old, CM 6) Ritchie Jones - 24 year old, CM 7) Danny Schofield - 31 year old, CM/RM (ex Millwall but a good player) 8) Chris Porter â 27 year old, CF 9) Calvin Zola â 26 year old, CF
A few interesting ones in your list Franco, cuthbert is interesting, as is jones. A big punt on Zola would be interesting. He has been very hot and cold in his career, but when he's hot he scores 30 a season. Also younger than I thought he was. For my liking there is no point in going after 31+ ex prem players for example as we need a squad for the future now, to grow with
Franco has plucked some gems- Ritchie Jones I think would be a very good option. Remember him from Man Utd's yoof (if this is the same player), and he looked the part then. Think he's got enough experience in these lower leagues and the only reason he is on that list is because he ran his own contract down rather than being released. Chris Porter, again is worth a punt. Perhaps not to necessarily be our main man, but he could push BWP and potentially Hayes. As I've said for the past few weeks, we need a squad rife with competition... brings out the motivation in people and I think it's one of the key ingredients we missed this season.
That is the same Ritchie Jones who was at Man United Super. With the way football is these days there's plenty of good players available for little to no money who can more than do a job for us. Imo we need players like Jones, who have a little pedigree, experience and are still young and hungry to build a career in the game. The likes of Jones, Sheehan and Cuthbert certainly fall into that category Imo. Hell Bent - finding the right balance between youth and experience is the key mate. There's plenty of players available between 22 and 30 who will cost next to nothing yet are good players and have experience in the lower leagues. Regarding Zola, At 6ft 6 and like s**t off a shovel he is on his day more than capable of being an absolute nightmare for any defender in this league. Seeing as he's a free agent, why not take a punt on him i say.
What about Marlon Harewood?? Notts County have offered him a 2year deal he hasn't accepted that yet though...??
i always think there are reasons why players are released or let go. and harewood has had it happen loads in his career. anyway, our issue is supply to the strikers.
As much as I do agree with your statement about wanting a squad for the future I think we also need a fair few 'impact' players just to get us out of this league, that's when we can start building a young squad, in the Championship lets just get out of this league first
It's all well and good going for young free agents, but we do need a bit of experience and leadership here and there. The gamble is finding experience that doesn't spend all its time on the treatment tabl.e
You can be young yet have experience Salford... Cuthbert - 116 league appearences in the SPL and League One. Jones - 120 league appearences in League One as well as 6 games in Belgium. Sheehan - 23 games in the Championship, 86 appearences in League One. Zola - 206 appearences in League One. Cuthbert was vice captain at Swindon so I would say he has obviously displayed some sort of leadership skills Greenwich, A lot of players these days run their contracts down so they can move on and pocket a signing on fee. All barring Jones were pretty much ever-presents for their respective clubs the season just gone, so I don't think it's a case of them being bombed out of the club. More a case of them wanting a move elsewhere (Sheehan and Cuthbert have both left Swindon due to their relegation). I agree that there needs to be a decent blend between youth and experience, but I don't always think you need to be old to qualify as being the latter!
I'd have Zola here like a shot -seen him play a couple of times and even though he's six-six, he's very quick and has good ball skills, he knows where the goal is as well. The only problem would be that with his height up front, there'd be a tendency to play non-stop hoofball. The problem with all free-transfer players is the ongoing wage expectation. it's a bit like buying something dead cheap in a sale and then finding it's 'dry clean only'.
Im with you Tewkes i'd snap up Zola straight away! Big target man to play alongside BWP always been a fan of him!! BWP/Cody MacDonald/Calvin Zola would be a lethal attack!
I understand the impact experience thing. I just think we've looked at that path so far. Powell is a young manager who will want to gain authourity off of his younger peers looking up at what he's done rather than the know it all pro that played on the same pitch and may feel like he could just as easily do the job. Not that theyd ever say that or that be their intention, I just think it can be very hard to find an experienced player still looking to contribute a full impact regardless of level. Darren Anderton was a great example of that kind of player.
Leyton Orient have signed defender Scott Cuthbert & Notts County have signed defender Alan Sheehan.. Thats them two off the list...
Just seen this on the SkySports rumours bit, did make me chuckle... Richard Rufus heavily linked with a move back to the Championship with Nottingham Forest, on a pay as you play contract after in-depth talks with Billy Davies. You heard it here first!
