Not sure what you mean by this, are you saying you think Moyes is good enough to be with us for 20 years? See, this is a no win situation. If United managed to win the double this season it will be because it is Fergies team, if they fall out of the top four and fail in the cups it will be because Moyes is a crap manager. I don`t expect too much to change this season, we will still be around the top three and from what i have seen from other teams in the first three games there is no reason to think we will not win the league. If Moyes proves out of his depth it should not show up until season three when he has to start replacing a large number of players, only then will we know if he is good enough to rebuild a team.
An against the run of play win against Swansea, a lack-lustre attempt at home against Chelsea and a humiliating defeat against a better Liverpool side plus the transfer debacle that saw 6 world class midfielders knock you back all point to a year of mediocrity and decline under last minute Moyes.
Don`t really understand this transfer lark do you KO, when you offer stupid money and a club turns you down it does not mean a player has knocked you back. So far we have played Swansea away and won (not many will win there), you at home and drew (you are a decent team honest and have a great block defence) and Liverpool at Anfield, a game which can go either way at any time because of the rivalry between the clubs (and they also put up a good rear guard action like yourselves). We have had the same start as last season (only against supposed better teams) and we all know how that turned out.
He should have started rebuilding day's army this window. Rio Ryan rapist vidic evra will all need replacing
I think more than those you mention need replacing Take Fergie out the equation and they're very mediocre.
RVP is a force and with Rooney back in the fold, they are not out of it, but the Fergie factor will cost them! Unless of course they create Moyseetime!
Both quality but Rooney has the body of a 30-year-old and Robin van Rapist is injury prone and hates Moyes. He is 30 too, so the days of him assaulting defences are numbered. Roon hates Moyes and United too. Moyes has got a tough job rebooting dad's army. Klopp would have been a better choice for the overhaul, or Ancelotti to get one or two more titles out of the pensioners
Not at all. He is saying without Fergie he doubts you will be as successful as you were under Fergie - regardless of the manager/s in place. In fact the chances are you will end up with a few managers during that period meaning periods of rebuilding and change that has hampered some sides during a period when United's stability meant they have always challenged for titles. For the last 20 years it's pretty much been United plus 'a.n other' competing for the title; Leeds, Blackburn, Villa, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea, City and Liverpool. United are the only team that's been able to constantly compete. However with new rich clubs, no Fergie etc I can see 3, 4, 5 teams even competing for the title each year for the forseeable. The odds simply suggest United can't win as many titles in the next 20 years. They'd struggle to do this with Fergie, almost impossible without him. I agree that Moyes real test will be 2-3 years time when he has a side more of his own making though. Jose's team from 04-06 pretty much won things up until our double in 2010.
This x1000 Was exactly my point. United have always been THE team to beat since the PL's inception and in all but 3 seasons in the last 20 if you finished above United, you were Champions. I dont think that can be the case from now on. There are too many other teams competing. Atleast 3 serious title contenders (Utd, City, Chelsea) this season with 2 other possibles (Arsenal, Spurs) and an outside (Liverpool, unlikely I know, but they are playing well so far and will probably only get better in the next few years). La Liga may have the biggest two teams of Galacticos, but the PL will be the best league because it is becoming far more competitive, rather than the usual two horse race of most leagues (Real and Barca in Spain, Celtic and Rangers in Scotland, Bayern and Dortmund in Germany, Juve and AC in Italy etc)
You keep clinging to having the same start as last year but it means nothing. You have a different manager and they have different players but hey, you cling to those straws and kid yourself that all is rosy
I do not think so. fans have been predicting United's demise for the last twenty years. They always had a plausible excuse/reason like Jack walker's determination, Wenger's cleverness, RA financial power + Jose's astuteness, then City's Sheiks unlimited financial power blah blah. None have had any lasting effect on United's total domination of english football. Now everyone is saying it must now happen because Fergie is gone. Wishful thinking at best...
United have dominated the league and been the best for the last twenty years. Your point about the competition is well made but it might well work in Moyes' favour. I think there is no outstanding team at the moment and unlike the previous two years when you could say it was City ( apart from the usual United ), now it could be City, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea and these teams are all going to take points off each other. I can see Moyes quietly coming down the blind side and sneak in. There is this uncertainty in the Chelsea camp with Mata not being appreciated by Jose and being flogged off (unsuccessfully to PSG/Monaco) and Luiz too (his head being turned by Barcelona).
No real substance behind the Mata nonsense or Luiz in fact both players have come out and said they are Chelsea through & through no matter who came in for them as have the club & Jesus Jose. It will be more open this year but it will be between City & Chelsea with the rest you mention squabbling for the spoils.
Nice try Plastic, Mata and Luis have both come out in the last few days saying they are happy at Chelsea. Maybe you should have tried that Wum weeks ago. Unlike Rooney. Or Rio: who hates Moyes. KEep up, treacle
But these teams will also take points off United!! In fact you've dropped points in 2 out of 3 games and only 1 contained those side's you've mentioned. United are the only team in the last 20 years to have money AND managerial stability. These are the sole factors for their continued success. Now you have a new, unproven manager and you aren't the richest anymore. United will not dominate anymore, these is absolutely no reason why they can.
The reasons for that are: Chav FC could not sell them/ give them away so they need to arse lick "last choice" Jose to try and get game time, due to being WC year
Could not sell them?!? Rumour has it Barca bid for Barca...we turned it down. PSG enquired about Mata, as did Arsenal, as did Spurs and he's still here. Clearly we want them. But you go an believe everything the Sun tells you....
It is interesting that these are now the reasons for United not being successful anymore. Before it was the money. United dominated we were told because they had more money than anyone else. Then the likes of Chelsea and City came along and as they had MORE money to spend, people said/wished that's the end of United's domination but it wasn't. Now that SAF has retired, the current reason is that the manager's length of stay is the one that makes the difference. On the basis of that argument, Chelsea will not be successful at least not on a long term basis as they change their managers constantly. It is all speculation and wishful thinking. There is no reason why United cannot continue its run of success.
Managerial stability allowed Saffa to plan ahead and rebuild teams, which worked in England if not Europe, (apart from against his nemesis CFc and Jose, of course, who rinsed him). Late appointment Moyes did not have time to plan ahead to rebuild dad's army, and United's catastrophic dealings in the transfer window are a result
This is not what people said when he (SAF) was appointed. in the first few years, no one could have predicted the total domination over the other teams. Even at that time, United had more money than anyone lese but that didn't make any difference under other managers. I doubt whether United under Fat Ron could have had level of success over 10-20 years with the same budget... Moyes will have to learn and fast. But he seems to have the same level of determination and steely ruthlessness that all top managers have. So United will do very well and win lots of titles IMO
