I was having a discussion with a few die hard football supporters yesterday and one of them brought up the subject of international breaks and how bad all the home nations are compared to spain,germany,italy, brazil and so forth and i was surprised by the majority of us said that we should scrap all the home nations for a united GB team. The way the premiership is run then there is very little chance on any of the home nations ever winning any competition ever again and we would have more of a chance with a british team combining the best of the best from all 4 nations, I was uncertain when we started the discussion but by the time we finished i thought yes as its the only way we brits have a chance of winning anything....what do fellow jacks or anyone else think, what are the pro's and cons that support staying independent or unite as one team...

mabon we are all British under the one flag. we go to war as one nation, we go to the olympics as one nation so playing a sport that none of us as individuals are any good at would not make any difference other than boost our chances of winning. the queen is our queen as much as englands,scotland or N Irelands and we are all British subjects.
She's not my queen and never will be Dai. I've got bugger all against her but she is the queen of England and I chose not to recognise her or Charles as prince of Wales, in fact I find that title insulting.

Dai you can go and watch team gb in fact we have one of them playing for us jon jo shelvey is a member of Englands under 21s or Team gb as they like to call themselves every 4 years. Now do not fall in to the trap of supporting the english and their wish to have a team gb. As a cymro Dai the welsh national team is sancrosanct and must be defended at all costs

Well I had two complimentary tickets for team GB at the Millennium, and I enjoyed watching Sinclair and Allen, but to be honest I would not have gone had Samsung not given me the tickets, I'm not for 'dai-looting' our heritage any further, and I have to agree with Mab's, no way should we start any 'Team GB', but I'd love to kick into touch that inept FAW though, but that's another story, sorry Dai but it's a none starter for me!..................
I have a friend who's a Welsh nationalist so much so that he hates being called Welsh because apparently it's an old anglo Saxon word which means foreigners or strangers. He will only recognise our country name as being 'Cymru'. It's all a bit too deep for me, but I do see his point
