Yeah but they were tamed down a bit like Austrailian words with double meanings aka Fosters "Austrailian for beer".
With the weather cooling, one that i am starting to like more is Pumpkin ale, not bad at all, thought it would be ****! Anyway, Ozil over Bale for me. Ozil is in that top 15 players in the world I believe and think Bale is still outside that. Bale does though add a whole new dimention to Real though.
We're always being told that players can't be considered world class unless they've got international honours - so Bale surely can't be world class ... can he ...
In that case Fake Ronaldo (not the the original and now fat one!) and Messi aren't either? Neither have helped their teams win a World Cup?
Messi has an Olympic gold medal and U20 world cup, plus his world player of the years, ballon d'ors, CL top scorers etc. etc. Ronaldo has silver and bronze EC medals [yeah I know I'm really reaching here] ballon d'or, world player of year etc and Bale .... has scored a few goals for Wales.
Agreed, I don't believe in the old adage of "have to have won the big one for his country to be considered world class" Would mean only half the RM and Barcelona team are World Class! Ronaldo and Messi are in a class of their own IMHO, players like Ozil, Van Persie and Suarez and a few others are in the World Class tier just below them, Bale, if not already, will be in the bracket soon enough.
I don't think it's so much 'have to have won the WC' as 'have to have played consistently well on the world stage' i.e via European or world football. Bale hasn't. I think he's a good player but just don't see how he's been valued so high, good luck to him anyway. He will get that chance now to play on a higher stage and watch the medals [and world recognition]come rolling in.
this is a hard question. For me i am amazed at two things about bale... first the genuine progression in his play and second how his game is based entirely on fitness and is going to be a short career. he's a run and kick merchant. that back injury he got cost redknapp big time for instance. if he's not as fit he'll struggle. I would personally think that an ozil is a special type player but then higuin for me is a great player too and both were sold for the "star" i dunno....
If you only judged world class players by what they had won for their country then the likes of Best and Rush must have been awful players
This earlier post of mine is self explanatory - it isn't my view - 'We're always being told that players can't be considered world class unless they've got international honours - so Bale surely can't be world class ... can he ...' However in the interests of furthering that view I pointed out Bale's lack of appearances on the world stage, which is as much about club as it is country and means he hasn't had much exposure on a stage other than the PL, so the value placed on him I find hard to reconcile. Despite the fact they both played for lesser national sides, Best and Rush played at the highest level for their clubs and so had great European exposure and experience which would inflate their sell on value. Bale similarly plays for a lesser national side but hasn't had that same exposure his club to compensate in the way it did for players like Rush and Best.
