The most insulting thing - other than their collusion in helping him illegally approach another team's player in the full glare of the media again, yet not condemning him for doing so (again...) - is the derisory fee being touted about: £20m For a player who cost £16.5m, and has five years to run on his contract, that's about a third of what they'd have to offer. But now their attentions have switched to Nasri...
Clearly a Sun reader who believes everything he sees written in the papers The papers say Sir Alex is after Modric so he must be, nevermind that Sir Alex hasn't said a word about it
The papers say Sir Alex is after Modric so he must be, nevermind that Sir Alex hasn't said a word about it ----------------------------------------------------------- Why should Bacon Face even mention one of our players?! All he needs to say is "I like Modric" because he knows thats all he needs to say to get the ball rolling. How do you explain one of your players Anderson, coming out and saying "Modric would be a great replacement for Scholes"?! Your club is a disgrace when it comes to unsettling players
Like i said mate, Fergie tapped Modric up months ago and set the ball rolling like he usually does. He come out of the blue and shared to the world his admiration for Luka Modric. This is clearly an attempt to unsettle the player in his own little way so come the summer Modric and the press have it in their mind that United want him. Your obviously going to have a biased view being a united fan but you can't deny the facts of Fegies sly little ways of getting certain players. Modric is not going anywhere because he's not for sale and don't want to leave......... United and Fergie need to get this in their head and move on!!!!
The reason you seem to be wet behind the ears is because you actually believe what players and chairman say to the press and that is naive, remember Berbatov, before he left he said in the press he was happy at spurs and wanted to stay and people said he wasnt going. It happens every year at every club, was only last week Mark Hughes was saying how settled he was at Fulham, then next moment he has resigned! Players, managers, chairman just say what the fans want to hear and the reason for this? I will tell you as you haven't worked it out, is so they can look to be "decent" people that are "loyal" and want whats in the best interest of the clubs and fans when the reality is they are no different from anyone of us in the sense if a chance comes along for us to better ourselves and achieve our ambitions then we take it. Modric may well stay and if he does I don't doubt he will put in great performances and do his best but if Man Utd make a big money bid for Modric this pre-season then I am 99.9% certain he will go.
remember Berbatov, before he left he said in the press he was happy at spurs and wanted to stay and people said he wasnt going. ----------------------------------------------------------------- You seem to have a very different memory of the situation than the rest of us....it was reported for months Berbatov was causing issues around the squad and eventually refused to play for us in our last 3 games of the season....yes, yes im sure he came out and said he was happy
"reported" and Berbatov was an example as he was stating in the press and interviews that he was happy and positive about the future yet he knew as soon as a bid came in from utd that he would get his move and that is the point that players who say they are happy in the press or interviews are just making these "statements" to try and please naive fans.
So a journalist asks "what do you think of Modric", Sir Alex answers, the journalist twists his words into a headline such as "Man Utd to sign Luka Modric!!!!" in order to sell his paper to morons like you and you all believe it. Well done
Speak for yourself, mate. Modric comes across to me as that old-fashioned thing - someone with integrity. We're not all back-stabbing money-grabbing tarts.
So when did a journalist ask Anderson if he thought Modric would be a good replacement for Scholes? Typical Manc attitude - everyone else is wrong...
"back-stabbing money-grabbing tarts." not if they choose to achieve their ambitions and conduct themselves well, that is why I would understand if Modric wanted to leave and he would still have integrity if he conducts himself in a professional manner.
And now I'm being wrong. Damn, why do I keep forgetting Manchester United are right in everything they do, and the way that they do it? Oh, right, it's only their fans that keep perpetrating that lie...
Errr no mate......Like RRP says above Berbatov forced his way out of the club. Levy initially weren't willing to sell and when berbatov refused to play and forced his way to United like the mercanery that he is we eventually threw the towell in and fleeced United for all the money we could get. Luka Modric is a complete different character to Berbatov and although he has stated he would like to play champions league football he also said he has no intention of leaving spurs. So if spurs reject any sort of bid then Modric wont throw a hissy fit and force his way out. Thats the difference........ if you can't see that then you clearly know nothing. Levy and Redknapp are hardly going to lie to the fans because they know their would be a riot...... end of discussion!!!
No you're absolutely right, the papers never lie and never make up stories to encourage people to buy them.
Ok don, you seem to have missed the point and its gone right over your head as the reference about Berbatov was in relation to the fact he was saying in interviews and the press that he was happy but he wasn't. As for Modric, no one has said he would throw a hissy fit (which you seem to be good at) yet he is no different from any other player in the sense even if he was unhappy, he would still say in interviews and the press that he was happy until he has decided what he is actually going to do, or if a bid would come in. As for Levy and Redknapp "lying" to the fans, you really must be naive if you believe what is said as if you have been around long enough you would know in this day and age managers and chairmain are usually very select with what is said as they know how important it is to show the fans they want success but its all about money and I would bet that if a big money bid comes in for any of our top players from a club like man utd that either the club will choose to sell or the player will make it known he wants to go.
Well done. The World would be a better place if we all believed what is printed in the papers, in fact lets all do that. I can't believe Giggs joined Inter Milan all those years ago but at least we signed the Brazillian Ronaldo! How did Solskjaer work out for you guys by the way? I don't know why we're definitely definitely DEFINITELY after Modric anyway when Ozil is doing such a good job for us.
You keep believing that mate.......... while i look at actual facts and quotes from the player himself saying he will be a spurs player next season. Not once did berbatov talk about being a spurs player that season and not once did he commit himself to the spurs cause once the United rumours started to surface. I think i know that not all football players are saints and most of them are mercanery money grabbers but every now and then you get yourself a lucky Gem of a character and loyal to the club that pays him. Luka modric according to his words ( Not mine) is commited to spurs and wants to stay. If spurs were to accept a bid for United then no doubt Modric would be off but as stated spurs wont accept a bid because our Chairman has already adressed the fans of his club that " we wont be entertaining any bids for key players"..... Now you can believe what you want Bigjohnny but i can assure you it wouldn't be in their interest at spurs for them to sell Modric after telling the supporters key players wont be sold because their would be a riot and a lot of spurs fans would turn there back on the club and not invest any sort of money. Levy is not stupid and Levy knows this. but with you bigjohnny you feel theres this rule in the football handbook that states a club has to accept a big bid for their player. If it makes you feel better then believe what you want......... I believe Modric will be a spurs player next season and evidence/ qouotes from the player and chairman have proved it.
Patronising everyone who makes valid points about the way your club does its business is a really good way to contribute to a forum... Of course, one key fact eludes as to why talking up your chances of signing, for the sake of argument, Wesley Sneijder doesn't have the same effect: There aren't any Fergusonites working at the Gazetta Dello Sport (or, for that matter, Marca or L'Equipe) - so you don't get weeks upon weeks of "Player X to Man Utd" in those papers for that very obvious reason. That isn't/wasn't the case for the likes of Saha or Berbatov, among others.
