He listed quite a few clubs in his actual speech tbf mate, i think he said in 1992 there were 68% of english starters and on the opening day this year there were 36%.

He then gave examples, we were one of them

    Full speech :

I'm with Billy with regard to this one. How many England caps did SKP get when he was banging them in for us? Even Judas was left out of the England squad after he hit 24 League goals in a poor SAFC team.

The England set-up has long turned its nose up at us and they can **** right off if they think we have any obligation to buy players with them in mind. We're improving our club & they should stick to improving that pathetically underperforming national team. ****ing gobshites!

Aye having a go. 100% Sid. They wouldn't pick our players no matter how well they played, so they can F**k right off from me also.

SAFC are a fair target IMO as we an extreme example and he was making a point. No other team came close to signing 12 players. Saying 1/12 were english make more of a point than 1/4.

What I dont agree with is his remarks on our game against Fulham. 4 of our players could play for England. I thought that would be quite a high % of players compared to other clubs. as he points out, wigan and nufc only fielded 1 out of 11 players qualified to play for england.

Top teams might field more english players (maybe) but they can afford the high fees needed to pay to get the quality english players.

This really irks me this. How dare he blame the top tier teams for not signing british talent when the whole reason there is none is down to the FA's handling of grass root football. There aren't enough decent grass roots coaches to work with our kids because the FA charge too much for coaching badges. They have stood back and allowed councils all over this country to sell of grass root pitches to build houses. The State of England's youth structure is down to the FA and nobody else. Teams need to compete and the value and quality just isn't there. We're not running a charity. Taking a chance on british youth is far too risky and expensive considering when you think the end game could result in top clubs going bust.

SORT IT OUT FA AND STOP BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE EXCEPT YOURSELF!!!!!

I can see both sides of the argument here..On the one hand, the England national side has definitely went backwards since the influx of foreign players, but on the other hand, our players have always struggled to gain international caps even when their ability most certainly deserved them..

Thing is the vast majority of top flight clubs have category 1 status. Numerous clubs picking up youngsters to produce the next wave of talent. If the talent the clubs are picking up are from overseas instead of Britain then that proves the problem with talent is rooted before the Professional clubs get involved. The buck stops with the FA imo. They can't expect clubs to sign british when they're overpriced and just not good enough.

OK so here's another example - of Man city's last 12 players - 3 were English - Richard Wright, Scott Sinclair and Jack Rodwell - is this good for the english game as none of them are playing for City's first team (and nor did they for 99% of last season)

it's not good for british football mate, not at all. But you have to admit they're not in the same league as other players in their position. Why they signed him is another question entirely. Good question though

Why, when they're apparently so technically piss poor, are young English players so expensive? Lots of clubs, ourselves included, are looking abroad not mainly because there are more players available, but because they are better value.

It's 'blazers' like Dyke who have totally killed my love of the national side ..... I was in France & Germany to support England and won't go again.

The whole set up stinks and I won't bore anyone with a list of why.

The current situation has nothing whatsoever to do with the ordinary supporter.

I have no interest in any of it.
