I agree with you there. It was worth spending on one season's wages on loan for a top striker rather than Graham. Maybe we couldn't have got all the players on the list but we would have had a choice of a few. Other than striker the defence is our next weakness but the two new players are class.
back to the subject : Similarities??? oh yes. Harry Redknap had this to say, Redknapp, who suggested a proposed loan deal of a player from QPR to West Brom was the reason for the move breaking down, explained the day's events from his perspective. "It looked as though the deal was going to happen," he said. "We had got a price off West Brom, the kid himself thought it was all on and obviously so did his advisors. So it wasn't out of order for him to jump in his car and head to London. "Peter just wanted to make sure he was in the London area so the deal could go through before that deadline. "It would have looked even worse if it had fallen through because he hadn't got here in time." He added: "The one thing I think Peter did wrong in all this was to actually drive to the ground. If he'd parked down the road, no one would have been any the wiser and - as disappointing as it would still have been for all sides - no harm done." Steve Clarke's view, http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/ feb/01/peter-odemwingie-qpr-steve-clarke "Steve Clarke has described Peter Odemwingie's decision to drive to Queens Park Rangers on transfer deadline day as "total lunacy" and said the West Bromwich Albion forward was never granted permission to speak to the London club." Contradictory statements. Further in the article is this snippet of deja vu, "Clarke admitted there was a point on Thursday when Albion were close to reaching an agreement with QPR, only for the deal to collapse when Junior Hoilett made it clear that he was not interested in moving to The Hawthorns on loan." Once again,West Brom pulling the plug on a deal when they are unsuccessful themselves.
My take on it is WBA don't want an unhappy player so blaming Hull. Bear this in mind, Jeremy Peace has an estimated wealth of around 40/50 million. Assem Allam is worth approx 500 million. If he wanted the deal he could have paid the fee.
AKCJ/Proud https://m.facebook.com/events/523802791000282?aref=5&__user=793310369 You'd think you'd learn the third time round.
Approximately, £500 million? I know there has been some high valuations in the past but the latest figures I have seen are £317m http://www.thisishullandeastriding....tory-18762390-detail/story.html#axzz2dZoBVyw1 and I think that with the latest halving of profits at Allam Marine the value is set to fall even further.
We weren't having an argument, I was just pointing out that you're thick as pigshit. Now run along back to your lower league club and discuss how badly you're playing with the same team that failed last season and we'll go back to discussing how well we've been playing.
Some visitors are clearly on a wind up, but Proud creases me. Despite being shown time and again to be thick and clueless, he still tries to post as if he's informed rather than touched. Fair play, people still fall for it.
What makes you think that a striker who has started all 3 Premiership games this season (against Southampton, Everton, and Swansea) and hasn't yet scored a goal, the answer to your goalscoring problem?
Jermaine Defoe's played 3 and scored 0 too and I'd certainly see him as the answer to our goal scoring problems, wouldn't you? Three Premier League games tells you nothing, he's a player who would compliment out other strikers and we'd be a better side with him in it.
Erm he has started 0 games, and was bought on in the 83rd minute, 81st minute, and the 69th minute. Really not comparable.
You're missing the point, I didn't say they were the same, just that there's plenty of good strikers who haven't scored in the first three games, it means nothing. Or are you suggesting that because he hasn't scored in the first five games, Chris Wood is utter dog-****e?
Hey, he scored a hat trick against Carlisle I'll have you know I'm just saying that in his first season in the Premiership, he scored 8 in 32 league games. And in his second season, he scored 8 in 34 league games. Granted last season he was somewhat overshadowed by Lukaku! He may do well if he signed for you and was the main man. Who knows?
On Paper, Graham has a better Premier League record than Long, but Sagbo has no record at all, neither does Aluko, nor Gedo, so as things currently stand, we haven't got a bloody clue how good our strike force is.
True, you can hardly judge your strikers on performances away to Chelsea and Man City, and another game where you were reduced to 10 men. Personally I rate Graham, he was very good for Swansea in their first season in the top flight. Good luck
He looked a bit off the pace in the Chelsea game, but he was very good against Man City, I think he's going to do fine. I also think Aluko will bang in a few as long as he stays fit. I've no idea what Gedo and Sagbo will do, I just hope neither feels the need to nut anyone between now and the end of the season.
Well, Clarkie's now aiming to extend Shane Long's contract (to avoid him leaving on a free next summer?), so we might well see how the land lies.....
