Liverpools stadium and Anfield area regeneration project has taken another step closer to reality. Local residents and businesses have given their backing to the plans in what was seen as the last major hurdle.

Liverpool city council had recieved over 1700 submissions on the plans with more than 80% of those in favour of the works.

Good times ... top of the league and work to begin soon <ok>

Let's not forget it's often "acquiring the last few properties" that can scupper/hold up development plans. Thankfully for the first time in two decades we've actually gone about this in the proper way...hence why I think this time it will happen.

Long overdue but fingers crossed the ground gets the improvements it needs AND the locals get the improvements their community deserves too.

But this time the last few properties have been designated as being subject to Compulsory Purchase should the owners not be able to achieve a private deal. So I agree, this time there is much more chance of its happening. Unless some environmentalist finds that there is a unique 3 legged greater spotted ant that lives in the foundations of the houses !

CP's can still be fought against though (especially if you can argue the CP valuation is below market rate). Not often objections are upheld but it can drag through the courts for quite a while. From what I've heard the club have finally stopped trying to screw the locals and have (so far) been offering more than market value. Why the hell we didn't do it this way 20 years ago is beyond me although having Moores doing the dealing it was no wonder we went down the "shady, sleezy, try and do it on the cheap" road.
