Got to assume Harry thought he would be gone so no point putting him in squads. If he is doing that well in training then he will earn his place back on bench but it would be massive hit to morale if he replaced Green Even if he makes mistake, he would really have to have major calamity or get injured. can He still be loaned out though?
It begins in BULLS and ends in HIT. Harry made him first choice keeper last year and he would have been again this season had he shown H that he was committed to us. He obviously didn't do that and Harry has picked Green as our number one for his loyalty and lets face it great ability. Is there a better keeper than Green in the Championship, I very much doubt it. CESAR is now getting desperate as he sees his World Cup ambition disappearing over Harrow Hill with its arse on fire! Personally I would like to thank Rob Green for the loyalty he has shown despite the regular barbs from the usual Rangers boo boys! Let Cesar play in the Carling Cup (oops).
This is pretty simple. We can't afford him. I'd heard several months ago that he was on £100,000 a week. I can't substantiate this but think that he would have had several suitors willing to pay 50-60 grand a week for a keeper who is surely one of the top five in the world. The fact that several clubs sniffed around and then disappeared might indicate that his wages are ridiculously high. If we play him then he will stick around. He will prob at worst make the Brazil squad. If we can afford his wages then grand. If we don't play him then at some stage in the near future he will have to move and get some game time to ensure his selection for Brazil 2014. Considering the pretty ruthless approach that our board has taken this summer I expect Cesar to be gone on loan within 4-6 weeks.
This was the only quoted wages I could find. TF did say there was no one over £70k at the club when quashing Samba speculation on wages - 'He currently earns around £45,000-a-week at QPR, which is topped up by performance-related bonuses, and he is refusing to accept anything less at a new club'
Who would have thought a few years ago that we would have been arguing over the fact that we don't want one of the world's best keepers in our team?! Let's face facts. Cesar is an extremely talented goalkeeper. The best in the Championship WITHOUT QUESTION. Why wouldn't we want him in the team performing well because he has to, in order to maintain his place for the World Cup in his own country. Absolutely crazy.
Because he plays like a complete tart, can't deal with crosses, won't put his body on the line, can't clear the halfway line with a goal kick, can't communicate with the defence, would risk the excellent team morale and isn't that good anyway.
Green has to be #1 until otherwise is deserved. There should be no question about that. We have to pay Cesar's wages either way now, so he should definitely be in our match day squads fighting it out for the #1 jersey. He has conducted himself well imo, no move has materialised so we end up with the TWO best goalkeepers in the division. There is nothing bad in that, money not an issue with all the big earners shipped out already. Great competition for the most important place in the team. Win/win imo. What about Cesar in home games and Green in the away games? We can rely on Cesar to pop up with matchwinner saves when the odd shot comes about at LR, he has superb consentration skills. And away from home Green will dominate the box when we're under pressure from long balls and crosses, like he has done so far this season.
This. A monsterkick is a prerequisite in the championship! Someone said he has three years of his contract left? The guy's 34, we just tell him up front that he's never going to play for us again. If he doesn't want to end his career without kicking another ball competitively, then surely he'll clearly off by January?
Wats is right. The cu*t went missing when we needed him most last season and dropped clanger after clanger in the crucial must-win games, the games where you need (and expect) your big name players to step up to the plate. Great shot-stopper as they say but not near as good as some are making out. Having said that, he'd probably be the best in this Mickey Mouse league!
All good comments ....................... I've stated before that Cesar should rot but if Green gets injured, then so be it. I like the way he says that 'things are now back to normal'........... contradicting himself about not trying to leave. The guys head was anywhere but with the club. Hope Harry has a long memory and only brings him in after all other avenues are exhausted.
This always makes me laugh. So many people on here talk as if they train with the players and know what is going on in the dressing room. For all we know he did not want to leave. he has said he and is family are happy in London. as for not being played we all thought some one would buy him. Harry needs stability at the back stuck with green think he will be the only one left. Now he's not. Let stick by him he is a QPR player.
Exactly! He is #2 behind Green at the mo, but what he gives to the team, squad and Green/Murphy is not known by anyone on here. The same is said about Hill: If he loses his place in the team, he will still be good to have around at training and on match days. He is still a QPR player and Brazil's #1.
Reaction here completely OTT I said on the other Cesar thread it should be Beard and not the player this vilification should be aimed at Im well pleased hes still a rangers player
Going back to my comment on a previous thread: Now the window has closed and Cesar is still with us, Harry must sit them both down (and Murphy) and be straight with them: The best keeper gets the shirt, starting with Green. Cesar and Murphy must prove in training and in reserve matches that they are good enough to take over should mistakes or injury occur, and Green must do what he has to to avoid giving Harry a reason to change his starting keeper. Competition for places is ALWAYS a good thing, and sadly with just Green and Murphy all we have is cover, not competition. Remember as well - Cesar (and possibly Green as well) will want to be sure of his place next summer. So there's added incentive for everyone to do well. However, Harry has to be very clear on how it's gonna work. If he does that, we need not worry quite so much about damaging team spirit.
Agree cannot understand in what world having the Brazil number one keeper is a bad thing I would love to see the posters faces if he wins the World Cup as a QPR player ... Outstanding person and keeper IMO don't get effected by the puppets and the press around him We brought him and have two very good keepers ... I expect Cesar to work hard and win back his place
Nail on head for me. If he does well for us when the chance comes I'm not interested in his motivations.
