WBA are going to say we thought the bid was payment in full, when thats never the case and they know it. I'll say it again do you really think we bid say 5 million and then turn round and say err we can only go to 3.5 million. Bollocks. The Allams are hard negotiators they arent cheats or dodgy second hand car salesmen.
On Monday evening I was so sick of watching the Sky transfer window programme, I listened to 5 live instead. The BBC during the evening said that WBA had told them that the Shane Long deal was now subject to then getting in replacements for both Shane Long and Odemwingie. In my view they did that with the signing of Sessegnon & Anichibe, though some say Sessegnon is not a striker, which I think comes down to personal opinion. From what was reported during the evening, Lukaku was going to Everton and WBA was trying to high jack that deal. For me therefore Lukaku was a long shot, and I don't think they ever thought they would get him, but they gave it a go. Now they are saying that they never said that and it was due to us changing the offer. Well I think I know who I believe and it isn't WBA, who are contradicting what they told the BBC.
Of course we wont hold our silence. This is out of the blue isnt it, give them chance to respond. Again "but the deal depended on many other factors" such as? What other factors could there be apart form Lukaku?
Wasn't it Anichebe who they were worried about? If I remember, the Lukaku deal had gone by then. I might be wrong, I'm not slagging the club off. I just want this tedious ****e over and done with so we can get back to basics.
Would love to stick up for our club , and hope they are telling the truth.. If I had to bet my last pound on it tho I'd put it on WBA to be honest , recent events don't endear full confidence in what comes out from our side
At the end of transfer windows there are all story after story that is complete bollox. I take every last bit of it with a pinch of salt. This new revelation is a press release by WBA. It is vital our press office respond officially now because they are questioning the integrity of our club, something that might affect our future transfer dealings.
John who used to be from Aberdeen but now lives in the East Riding of Yorkshire - the deal WAS subject to west brom completing their business all the way, no one has disputed that, but we've since learned that the deal died at 9:50 which is very short of the deadline, and neither club has actually confirmed that west brom pulled the plug due to them not being sure of sealing their targets, only that it did depend on it. Why would they pull the plug at 9:50 for that reason when they still have over an hour to finalise their own deals? It just doesn't add up. Chazz - you've read the baggies statement completely differently to me. Myself I read it as though we agreed a payment plan (probably an up front fee which does happen) which made it acceptable, and then we said we couldn't pay it all up front and asked to pay in stallments. I didn't read it as though we changed the value of our offer.
i smell a rat here , without our Club responding to the WBA allegations i will totally accept that version of events - as i said with the Barmby fiasco , you can't gag the truth (unless you are the actual government lol) - but AA falls short of that . whatever the reason wont affect the outcome and im not sure HCAFC have issued their own reason behind the collapse before WBA did , so it may not be lies . NP's own statement was rather vague but still pointed the finger at WBA - tho included a "we dont blame them" at the end . Our Club just seem intent on being shifty if not wholly untruthful - just shifty , and its not working
One of the Egyptian lads told us about it, it was national Egyptian news apparently. I think it was Aptth, someone on twitter could tweet and ask him to confirm/deny it.
We don't know at what time WBA were told Lukaku deal was done with Everton, that could well have been at 9.50. Moreover I don't think SB would have come out and said he was furious that WBA had pulled out of the deal, if we had move the goal posts on the deal, and we were the ones who had changed the offer. In addition I find it hard to believe that we would charter a plane, get his medical done in Leeds and take him to the training ground, if we then changed the deal. For me it just doesn't make sense, basically neither of us know who is the guilty party, it could turn out to be both.
I doubt Nick Proschwitz player any part in negotiations. If I was a betting man, I'd go with the Baggies statement, you don't issue a press release like this without being damn sure it's accurate.
You've done that "NP" thing twice now so I'm starting to wonder if you think Nige still works for Hull City?
Never heard this story. Plus aren't we still waiting for Nicky Barmby's tale? or has he been silenced by cash?
We need to kiss and make up with them. How does sending Matty Fryatt to them sound? He wants to go home.
^ Very much this. Allam is a ****, and one who doesn't understand that running a football club is not like running any other business.
