Before we play Manchester United at Anfield some pundits regarded that game was going to be our utmost test, to see how far we've improved. We even surprised ourselves by our performance on the 1st of September. At Liberty Stadium last year we were denied a good goal scored by José Enrique. Generally people believe that we do not usually do well against teams below us in the league. Swansea are playing good football and they are difficult nuts to crack especially on their home ground. This game have two things that are not helpful as some fans are concerned,(1) After International break (2)Monday night football. We hope that all our players away on international duties are going to come back injury free. As for Monday night football- we do not usually win on Monday, but this one we need to win it to continue the momentum. Brendan Rodgers knows a lot about Swansea being his former club, I am not sure if that is an advantage or disadvantage. Before the kick off on Monday 16th September another club is likely to be at the top of the premiership table and we need go back to the top of the table after the match, that can be an incentive
Swansea are a tidy outfit but they seem to have lost that edge ever since they reached the League Cup final. Man Utd lack creativity in their midfield but once they scored the first goal, they were able to find the space and exploit it. I think that's crucial if we are to beat them this time. As you say, we should have beaten them last time round but we come with a better squad so I expect 3 points.
lfc 5 swansea 0. swansea have been a changed side since they last beat us in the carling cup when we played a scratch side ourselves of sorts. I really don't see this as a top 10 side any more therefore I expect us to go and beat them by playing better than them, working harder than them etc etc. I actually am grateful this is a monday game. the internationals end and we get an extra two days to get oursevles together... AND and extra two days for toure. Also an away day on a monday is not so bad. at least it should affect their fans more than ours.... though i feel that affecting fans like this at all is really stupid by the prem.
I think it will be a tough game, we will need to put pressure on them early on. If we get the first goal I think we''ll win it.
Seen worse! Should be a good open game this, hopefully we can shade the results and keep the momentum going. Agree with MITO, first goal is key, if we get it, they tend to lose their shape a bit and a prone to a quick counter. I don't mind the 1-0s we've been getting, however a second goal when on top won't go a miss!
yeah it'd settle the nerves no question. I'd like a nice big win sometime where you go out like say oh arsenal 2004 and score 2 in the first 20 then just entertain... everyone but the players relaxes and enjoys it. well I hope for one sometime soon. I'll more than take the 1-0 now.
I dot mind people correcting my mistakes, but anyone behaving like the Principal of "Eton College" would not be tolerated.
Tbh it was hard to watch the second half vs Man U. We created basically nothing while they were firing left right and center, however saying that their midfield was terrible - playing Giggs at 39 is a joke. As for Swansea I think we will smash them as BR does know the club and the players. See what happens though
I think that's something that may have changed. I too was worried, but we defended very well and Ming only had one real save to make. All their possession counted for nothing. I'm more comfortable that we can defend 1 - 0s now. 2 or 3 would obviously be better though
