Eire, GFH have found £2 x £1m for two new players and extra funds to ensure McCormack re-signs. So I think on principal they will aim to keep Byram. However, if we got a silly money bid of £8m, it would be very hard to turn down, especially if we're unlikely to make the top 6. That said, given our recent history and the quality around the frniges of the squad, I actually think top 6 and play offs would be fine. Shows major progress from last year. Also GFH have already said that this is a 2 year project and we don't have the resources to compete with the prachute payment clubs or clubs like QPR who have both parachute payments and a very rich owner.

Have a bit of patience. We're in a better place than we were, AND our kids are also coming through at a frightening rate.

Boggers although I agree with the sentiment of your comment, I cannot accept that we need to be patient. we've had near on 10-years of being patient and listeneing to liars like bates who told us that if we wanted prem football we would have to pay prem prices. well we've seen what happened to our money didn't we, it just got syphoned off into Bates and mates retirement funds. The club is skint, and the new owners are trying to put their fingers in holes to stop us bleeding to death. They say 2-year project, but the reality is that in 18-months time we will be even further behind due to a widening gap between parachute payment clubs, relegated clubs and clubs who invested. GFH will be gone in 18-months and not their problem anymore.

Swansea, Norwich, Southampton anyone? We could and should have been promoted with any of of thos clubs, as we were in pole position to do it, but failed to give the manager a few quid to get us over the line. 2 or 3 seasons ago we had the tools to do it with a few quid, but our owner enjoyed selling our better players and replacing with ****. How can we compete with a village club like Wigan who have parachute payments and can still flog a player for £14m.

The club is crying out for investment now and the fans are tired of waiting. The club have lost a whole generation of kids as a fanbase, through greed and shortsightedness. The people of leeds deserve more

Fair points Doc. Whereas in the last few years we had White coming through, Parker, maybe one or two others. We've now got Poleon, Byram, Mowatt, Dawson, and a whole crop of others not tooo far away. The foundations of the club are now so much stronger than they were. Yes, we know Bates tried to build the ground and not the team. But now with potentially the best manager we've had for years AND the kids and a much improved first XI, it isn't going to be long before we're back where we belong.

I know the fans have all been through a lot over the last few years and away fixutes in front of 4 or 5,000 in crappy little grounds on a cold Tuesday night whilst selling or having to sell our best players was a low point, the future really is looking so much rosier. If GFH can get further investment into the club, we wont have to worry about possible yo yos, we'll jump to a solid top 10 PL team competing for decent cup runs and the outside chance of a Europa league place via our league position.

Keep the faith boys and girls, the roller costa ride is slowly flattening out to see us bobing along on the crest of a wave.

As they were offering him a contract we would have had to go to tribunal. I don't imagine we wanted to do that as we will want to keep a positive relationship in case we are looking to loan or buy players off them in future.

Is there a table of wages? This would give a better idea of how high we are punching

Of course we'll keep the faith but now is the time for the extra push required, not in two years time. God knows Leeds fans have proven to be the most patient of all. Ten years of dross and still 2k attend home games. Extraordinary how there is any left.

    Morning all,

To play devil's advocate for a moment, I do get what Brian is doing with regards to not buying players for the sake of it, BUT does anyone think about the possibility that he is being a bit too shrewd or choosy, ala Wenger, when it comes to plugging gaps (wingers!). I say this also because, I remember reading an interview Brian made after he got sacked at Reading and he said he learnt some telling things from the experience and one was that in hindsight he realised that he didnt spend as much as he should have done to survive in the Prem.

I suppose the main difference between the two would be that at least Brian appears to acknowledge that there are gaps in the squad now, whereas Wenger never does!

Again, just a wondering that I thought I'd air, not necessary my firm view on it all.

We still have choices and could bring in loan players or a Bosman; Stephen Hunt, David Bentley and Simon Davies are all still unattached.

We also have Bryam coming back who may well end up playing on the right in front of Peltier.

Plus we have Danny Pugh, Ryan Hall and Aidy White as well as Tonge all able to play on the left.

In all we have enough to make a push for top 6 without needing to bring in more players.

I strongly believe that Byram and White could end up playing as wing backs this season, with 3 at the back.

Orion I've just read the latest statement from BMD regarding the transfer window. he said he offered one club the chance to sell their winger. he was quoted £600k for a winger who was out of contract in the summer. he said its crazy and although he wanted the player was unwilling to pay so much for a player he can get for free in a few months. makes sense, but not if you try and compare yourself to QPR

Did he say that the player is still with that club? If so, we'll have him in July when the main window opens again or January if the club concerned see sense.

Apparently the winger was Chris Burke. I would've paid the £600,000 for him to be honest...

NewsNow reporting that Leeds are trying to get Burke on loan as Birmingham need some wages off the books. 6 starts so far for Burke and 2 goals for the winger, so not too shabby, and he's also played for scotland 4 times so far so if we get him on loan we can sign him for free in June/

If wages are our problem, I can't see us getting Burke. Not until we offload some anyway

A mate and I were trying to 'think outside the box' earlier. We decded that the manager should get in touch with Man City as we have a relationship with them due their academy director being poached from ER. They have a young kid there called Alex henshall who I'm sure our manager will be aware of and he needs to go out on loan, so why not us as he's a classy speedy winger.

Also check out our academy protege Louis Hutton who went to City, and see this goal that went viral a few days ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVAO14h7F7M remember that he and George Swann left ER to go to City not so long ago.

How about getting Luke Garbutt back vrom Everton on loan as he seems to be doing well and now playing for his country and scoring
