Not sure who is but there are 3 or 4 who are easily arguable as good as Ozil. **** the no of the shirt. As creative midfielders go barca have 2 Bayern have 2 Chelsea have 1. Makes me laugh, people say the Spanish league is not competitive and yet with the same face will hail Ozil's stats. Part of getting 60 assists in 3 seasons is having quality to pass the ball to. Ozil is a great player but outright best, I can't see that. One of the best yes
Your a sad little man. Stop following me around. All i've done is contribute on threads with people already discussing the topic of Ozil - i haven't gone and started discussions of my own for the sake of name dropping. You seem to still have a problem with me from when you got banned from our board. As for Ozil being the best number 10 - Mourinho agrees with me and i'm sure so do a lot of others. Feel free to try and name some who are better though
Bayern = Kroos/Gotze? Not better than Ozil. Does barca even play a #10? Iniesta/Xavi are central midfielders.
Pardon my ignorance, I was just giving the account of when I've watched him play. i didn't know he was that prolific. I do rate him highly, and the price is justifiable. I think Wenger signed him, obviously to silence the critics and appease the fans, but also because of Wilshere's injury record. As an England supporter, that's worrying for me.
Over 50 apps per season at Madrid would suggest he started him often enough (And it is a direct quote from Mourinho).
Modric, Fabregas, Muller, Mata, Rooney and Isco would be my preference over Ozil, mainly because I see them as goal threats too. Ozil is probably the best for assists though.
Ozil gets more assists, key passes and creates more chances from open play than any of them easily. As far as those players being more of a goal threat; Modric shouldn't be on that list as he scored 4 goals last season. In 4 seasons at spurs he never scored more than 5 in a season with 17 goals for the 4 year period total. Total of 21 goals in 5 years. Plus Isco has one season where he has scored 12 goals and otherwise never above 5 (though he is young). Ozil has 27 goals for Madrid in 3 seasons and has scored ~10 goals a season for the last 4 years. He has ~1 goal per 3 games for the German international team as well. So his scoring record is fine for an AM. On top of that he offers more creatively than any of the other players you mentioned, with Fabregas the only one in the same league imo. They are all very good players you mentioned, but for the number 10 role i wouldn't take any of those you've mentioned over Ozil. Fabregas would be the hardest decision to make between the two of them.
If you watched most of Madrids games then you'd know he was an integral part of there team for all 3 years that he was at the club. And the majority of his 50 apps each seasons have been starts not sub appearances.
Yes the stats seem to tell otherwise but when you see a player, you can feel if he has goals in him or not. The above mentioned players give me the impression that they have an eye for goal, that striker's finishing ability. Ozil, I just cannot see it. For example, at Arsenal, Cazorla looks like hecan score a few whereas Wilshere never looks like he will unless its a tap in. But Ozil is the king of assists, hands down. But the bottom line is, you have bought who you want than who you need.
If there is one thing that Modric doesn't have it's an eye for goal. His goals are few and far between. He has that same vibe as with Wilshere!
Anyone surprised that no German team made a similar bid for Ozil? Especially someone like Dortmund who lost Gotze to Bayern? I'm sure with Ozil being German it would've been the logical place to try to sell him... Unless they didn't want to sell him to a club that is competing to win the CL.
