I would say much maligned rather than your OTT expression. Must be noted he hasn't really done a great deal since leaving so maybe other managers feel the same.
Tbh, I'd have to search pretty hard to find a Saints player I didn't like in League One. I loved Lge One. I loved it as a league, because of the expectation levels, I loved the 46 games, with no breaks for internationals. I loved the other clubs because they were real football clubs, with core fans. In fact, I think I'm actually glad it took two seasons to get out of it as well. League One was fun. It would be churlish to single out a poor player when I was having so much fun, so I can say that I liked them all.
League One was great fun. Very enjoyable couple of seasons we had there. Pards did assemble a really great set of players full of talent and not many egos. Pardew was great for us.
Indeed. Got a lot of things turned round. Very early on he spoke about stopping the mentality of being used to losing and changing the club's attitude into a winning mentality. The first time I'd heard the expression mentioned in a football interview, but now spoken of everywhere. He also got Rickie in. If he'd done nothing else it would have cemented his good reputation at the club. Saints also came out of that first season with a piece of silverware from Wembley, and I bet those players involved will never forget it. It was the start of things.
"Spike" Armstrong.... He should've played more than once for England, very influential and underrated player. Nicky Holmes....A local one club man, he had a fantastic engine and was a vital cog in a team full of Internationals. Matty Oakley....Obviously overshadowed by LeTiss, he complimented him so well and gave him good service. He also scored a cracker against the Skates! Jose Fonte... I've loved this guy ever since Brighton away, he changed history for us with that goal, who knows what might have happened if he hadn't scored then...He has never let the team down and fully deserves his run in the team now.
Thank goodness someone said it - I was getting worried. Super Ken was fabulous for us and a gent. Hugely underrated.....
