Hopefully Giroud's early season form will continue and the defensive record of 2013, which is very good, will also continue.
Wasn't really listening carefully but did Gary Clinical say on MOTD that we'd got the most prem points in the 2013 calendar year??
Well in the second half of last season only Utd got more points than us. And they have 2 points less than us so far this season. So we are probably level on points gained with Utd since the start of 2013. Ahead of everyone else.
I think the rivals fans that keep saying we do not need Ozil really have not watched Arsenal much in recent years, and are going on what we used to be like. We no longer create a load of chances, because from the players we have, only Cazorla is really creative. Wilshere for all his positives, is not someone that can open defences up at this moment, same goes for Rosicky, but to a lesser extent. Last season, there were loads of games, where we barely created anything. Since Fabregas left, we have struggled creating chances, and by buying Ozil, Wenger has addressed that issue.
Exactly. I think we will go back to the level of creativity of the 2007/08 team, when we had Fabs, Hleb and Flamini playing in the middle.
Also, as alluded to above, the creativity took a back seat to the defensive tightening we saw after Christmas last season. It looks like we have the balance right these days. We could become a fantastic counterattacking team like the Invincibles; solid defensively and devastating on the counterattack.
They're not wrong, our defense is weak and will cost us points. But we'll definitely score more goals with Ozil in the team.
We had the second best defense in the league last season and conceeded the same amount of goals as Bayern when we went out of the CL. So if our defense is in trouble, god help the rest of the league!
Our defense still suffers from too many calamitous mistakes, and this amplifies our weaknesses in the eyes of pundits and commentators, but yea, overall we defend well.
The way Arsenal set up away from home was key to this and it masks the real situation as defensively Arsenal were leaky at the Emirates when they opened up.
Still pissing myself laughing at that. Edmund is just bitter that Utd missed out on Ozil - again and Cesc and Thiago and Herrera
Ah the good old derogatory inflammatory comment complete with bad language & ridiculous username. Well done, you ticked all the boxes. Maybe try watching some games or reading some articles before you make comment? Can we ban the tail before this becomes several pages of statistics & insults?
Not all the analysts are slagging off Arsenal. A few of the ones I respect most are making some good points. Arsenal defence statistically was better than Machester United and Chelsea, over the whole of last year, not just at the end. Cazorla hasn't been playing CAM much lately, he has been on the left. Ozil can also play wide right. Walcott playing through the middle with Ozil behind him looks a good option too; no wonder Theo is buzzing. Is Podolski dead? Ok he is out for a couple of months, but he will be back before Christmas. Ozil Makes everyone better, even Giroud, how much better does he need to get? Flamini can play full back as well as CDM, but even so Jenks played brilliantly against the spuds. As I said before, too many people invested a LOT of their credibility in disrespecting our manager and now they have to keep going, or look like prize twats.
I see Stuart I'm so bitter about sacked Robson has been on both SSN & Talksport rubbishing out acquisition of Ozil today
