Bendtner - Arsenal pulled the plug when the deal was agreed due to Ba not signing on loan. Next up Andy Johnson - fell through at the last minute. Good to know if the Long transfer doesn't make it all the way in the next 40 minutes (yes, we do have until 1am to complete it even though the window shut at 11pm) that we've not been the only newly promoted club to miss out on a vital position today.
Any team that has Wilbraham as one of its main strikers is in trouble. One of the worst players I ever saw in the black and amber. Although Junior Lewis ran him close.
Agreed. They have a very good championship squad for next season mind. Oh yes. Steve Clarke wont have done his credibility any good with what he did. He went back on his word after spitting his dummy out over losing Lukaku to Everton. Around 8pm it had been reported on most media sites and Sky where endorsing it as well each time when Rob Dorset was on air at the WBA training ground - that as long as Wba got in Sessegnon and Anchibe then Shane Long would be allowed to go. They did and and Clarke killed it. What goes around Clarke comes around.
I think Palace have a far better set of attacking options than us. Chamakh/Jerome/Phillips/Gayle/Wilbraham Glenn Murray to return from injury Plus Jimmy Kebe
Jimmy Kebe!! big wow.. they did get that Forest midfielder too though.. Murray is unproven at this level & Chamakh couldn't do it with the quality of Arsenal's supply force so will fizzle out IMO
Graham and Gedo are better than anything Palace have up front IMO. Sagbo could turn out to be too. Aluko definitely is too if ever he needs to play there.
I would much prefer to have our squad than theirs. Also thank **** we have Steve Bruce and not that Tosser they have,
Squad wise with the exception of the strikers I believe it is more than capable of a mid table. It's goal scoring that concerns me, it may not be a concern when we play teams of a similar ability and we keep 11 players on the pitch. However, goal scoring has been a huge problem for us for the last 5 seasons now, not sure our current strikers are capable of scoring the goals required. Which is also I would assume why Bruce felt it necessary to bid for Long. Clarke is an utter **** for saying Long could leave when he had signed his 2 replacements (Sessignon and Anichebe) they already have Anelka and Vydra. He the pulls the plug after we've done the medical, agreed personal terms etc. That's a gentlemans agreement, breaking it shows what an utter twat Clarke is. Holloway is a twat, regardless of who he signs, his teams are always set up to score a lot of goals. His management record supports this. Look at Blackpool in the Premier.
It was reported in most reputable media sources that when they had their 2, then Long could also move. If that wasn't the case, why would they have accepted our offer and allowed us at great expense no doubt to fly Long in from the ROI training camp? Clarke is a grade A ****.
Check out NT's interview today, we were told from the start that Long to us was dependant on Lukaku to them.
I don't think NT said that Lammie. He said as long as they got the two strikers in, I think. Well, they did didn't they Seesignon and Anchibe.
