I agree that we didn't have the best transfer window but i don't get all comments that we overpayed. You don't think he's worth £12m more than Lamela who's still potential rather than the finished article?

Nonsense. Real Madrid fans I know are furious he was sold and there were chants imploring Perez not to sell. He's been their best playmaker over the last 3 years and has better stats for club and country than Iniesta. Ozil is proven world class whereas Lamela is potential. Ozil is just the type of player Spurs would have needed. There's no point in trying to dress it up, it's a fantastic signing for Arsenal and easily the best this window. I'm gutted, always hoped I'd see him in a Chelsea shirt.

Lots of the transfers were overpriced this summer imo, i'm still trying to work out what the new £10m is, £20m? Lamela/Bale/Ozil were all massive fees considering:
    Lamela - age/experience/pl experience
Bale - just huge huge huge
Ozil - huge fee, already strong position, never played in england

Neymar was also a massive fee this summer
    And Higuain
    And Falcao
    And Moutinho/Rodriguez

I agree, it's about right when you consider other recent transfer fees. I don't think the fees really should matter too much to us anyway, it's not like spending £42mill on him stopped you from signing anyone else, same with us and Lamela, Soldado, etc.

DL off topic but why do you think Eriksen wouldn't get into any team in the league?, you said this in another thread but cant remember which.

As much as I want to agree with Totsfan, DL is right, Ozil certaintly isn't over rated and is a superb footballer who once links up with Carzola, are going to absolutely murder teams in terms of pass/move and creating chances, so the goons have done good business, as they have kept their squad together, allowed players like Ramsey to grow in the team (even when he was getting stick) and added a world class talent.

Well Utd made a balls up of that transfer window. Edward Woodward (fart in a bath??:emoticon-0119-puke:) should stick to acting. Why claim that the club would spend big and then sign two players for £30M, paying £4M more for one than he could have been bought for in July? <doh>

The way to ease the pressure on Moyes in following SAF was to bring in two or three star players, improve the quality of the team, boost the confidence of the players, excite the fans and hit the ground running. Why didn't it happen and why has the supposedly biggest club on the planet been gazumped for players?

Fellaini will improve Utd, but it's disappointing to have one new first team player when your rivals have five or six and have spent £100M+

Utd did surprise me in this window. When someone like Fergus leaves a club the one thing you do is go out and make a big statement signing to make sure everyone knows you still mean business, not Fellaini at the last minute. I really thought they'd make a big push to try and get Ronaldo back

A great player nudged out due to Factitious' needless hoarding of Modric and Bale in past summers, you mean? There's players dotted around Europe that underline how signing for that club is great for your bank balance, but nothing more (van Der Vaart and Drenthe springing to mind)

With Ozil I think its more Isco taking his place, Perez is desperate to stop Barca dominating the national team

I didn't say that, I said he wouldn't get into any top 4 XI. He's potential.

I was surprised when dortmund never signed Eriksen as on paper he would have been ideal to replace gotze and cheaper then the signing from ukraine, so as I have a lot of respect for dortmund and their scouting network and Klopp as a manager, I do wonder what put them off, or made them unsure about the player.

Agree with Krome. That's what it's all about and why they signed Illarerramendi. You don't need me to tell you this but with Real Madrid it's all about politics and constantly trying to make sure Barca can't outdo them. The nationalists are not happy as it is the team comprises of a Catalan core. I was in Barcelona when Spain won the Euro 2008 Championship and there were some that refused to celebrate the Spain win because they identify themselves as Catalan first and foremost and Spain itself is very much identified with Castillian regime.

Missed the signing of Lukaku, surprised he wasn't given a chance at Chelsea.

Its only a season long loan, but I was surprised to be honest. Thought we would give him a run out this year.

Signing Ozil also doesn't interfere with the balance of the team and will give the entire club a lift. Everybody there will raise their game as anyone would when playing alongside better players. They are probably only a top quality left sided attacking player and midfield enforcer (like Fellaini) away from having a top quality side. They need someone who will commit fouls on the half way line and up counter attacks, not convinced Arteta or Flamini are the solution but it might be an issue Wenger sorts out in January.

Yeah I know its a loan, just seems odd as he was superb last year, superb in pre season (ok that doesn't mean much) but is better then Ba & Torres and is ready to be 1st choice, or maybe Jose prepared for life with Rooney and Eto will now be 1st choice.

Coentrao loan failed I see. So they've pissed off Evra without getting a replacement. Should be fun!
