I think they had to aim high to soften the blow of Fergie retiring. It would have appeased the supporters who are unsure of Moyes and would have boosted shares on the stock exchange. I guess the problem with them showing this intent (publicly) was if it backfired and they couldn't sign the big names. I think under Fergie, it would have all been done on the quiet and then announced or not. If not he would have said earlier in the window that he is happy with the squad. I hope UTD do slip back into the pack a bit though to make everything a bit more interesting at the top.
Everyone is focusing on Moyes yet forgetting that they have a new man at the top in Woodward as well. This seems as much to do with his failings as Moyes's too.
Personally I think arsenal panic buyed. Ozil is a great player but he was one player arsenal don't really need. It was a big name to keep the fans on side. Arsenal are in need of a wanyama esc kind of player and a striker. Podolski is out for 10 weeks and they're depending on giroud staying fit.
Arsenal fans were promised lots of buys which never materialised, so getting Ozil on the last day will at least appease them for the moment...let's hope he shines from the beginning for them or there'll be trouble ahead. Moyes hasn't the pull of Ferguson, though not being able to get players for United is quite an achievement. Went right off him when he said Fellaini and Baines should be allowed to move for their career's sake...disgraceful thing to say to any club. We had a good transfer window, though doing the right thing and buying players early makes for a boring last day. Be nice to have screeching cars at 23.55 with cameras popping one year. P.s. What is the point of Joe Kinnear.
No, paperwork didn't get through in time. Will be an interesting conversation with Evra after they failed to replace him twice!
Disagree. Arsenal need players of his quality if they are to return to their glory days. Yes, they need a striker and a defensive midfielder. Yes, they may be pretty well stocked with attacking midfielders already, but if you get the chance to sign someone like Ãzil you don't pass it up.
They've been after Ozil for a few years so its not really a panic buy. If they get an injury up front then I hope walcott would get a decent crack at it and I think he would do well.
Reported on Sky last night (sorry if reported elsewhere) that the United deal for Harrera was complicated because a couple of men fraudulently posed as United representatives which confused the issue.
Well I haven't seen him play for a while, if he is the answer to that question then indeed, that even further justifies signing Ãzil.
Yes we get it, you live in Southampton and are able to attend games, therefore you're better than everyone else. Congratulations.
While I agree in principle - and know you said Wanyama-esque - if they had got Wanyama and not Ozil, they would be a worse team this season imo. Ozil will instill much more confidence. Think maybe they should have grabbed Fellaini too, though. I don’t think any of us will ever really understand football clubs and their transfer dealings. Are simply countless conundrums and seeming no-brainers just left to drift – the mechanics of the thing is too deep behind the scenes for us to get.
Thank you. Sorry for touching a nerve. But you REALLY seem to intent on "winning" arguments and taking them mega seriously. Is it worth it?
