I think Emnes would be decent back-up because, as stated, he could play in any of top four positions but I wouldn't want us to pay much for him and I expect Middlesbrough wouldn't let him go too cheap so he would probably be too expensive for a bench warmer.
If you look at his success, he has done so well with a partner up front with him. The way we play would be totaly alien to him...But a good player
At the right price he is worth a punt. maybe another who just needs the right home. But at the money people are talking about on here. Borough can keep him.
I thought Emnes done quite well for us and i thought he suited our style of play so i wouldn't mind having Emnes back.
Agree with SA14 He played well for us and then he went back to Mcdiddleborough I thought he carried on improving. Played very very well and was instrumental in Boroughs dismantling of the unmentionable up the road I think if we could get him in January on the cheap he would over very good cover linking up with ease to Sinclair and Dyer
Boro payed something like 3.25 million for him so if we did go for him do we think we could get him for around the million mark ?? Although i've read Boro are keen on extending his contract.
If the price is right then Emnes is a good squad player, who knows how we play and could cover the front four - but wouldn't start ahead of anything we have at present (assuming we get DG)
