I wouldnt, Michu is one of those rare players whos passion for the game and the club seems unending, Michu´s workrate is amazing and I can personally forgive the guy for seeing red sometimes, its part of his game and his passion. If he looses the "bull seeing red" attitude he might also loose some other more positive aspects of his game.

Why would I ask such a stupid hypothetical question? Simply because of Bale´s pricetag, if Bale is worth 100 million euro ... what the heck is Michu worth then in a straight comparison? I definately wouldnt make the swap, would you? ....

... and btw, this also makes me think about the actual price for Ronaldo and Messi, now that Bale is worth that much ....200 million euros for Messi, again in a straight comparison? this whole deal has gotten me thinking, football and transfers ... how far will it really go?

I just wonder when reality will kick in and there'll be a cap on trasnsfer fees . Bale is an individual talent where as Michu is more a team player with probably less tricks in his box but honestly who wouldn't want a Bale tyope player in their side.

btw 100 million for a submarine is quite cheap these days.<whistle>, .

Agree with Danielswan..... Bale's main asset is his speed. What if that degrades over time? How "ordinary" does he then become, or are there other tools in the box to compensate and keep the edge.

Michu is something of an enigma. His shooting is not the best, but he works hard, is not selfish, will "die" for the cause and he can head the ball better than most players in the Prem. I would not swap Michu for Bale, because Bale is not going to spear head midfield and create and work and score in the same way. I would love to add Bale to Michu and vice versa.

As for money ... at this level value is whatever the buyer is prepared to pay. Every buyer is capable of monetizing the asset off the field in different ways and through that is able to under write the cost of acquisition to different degres. When Madrid leveraged Ronaldo out of United they already had a three year business plan using shirt sales to under write the transfer fee. I think they go cash positive after three years or something like that. When you have that sort of leverage on a global scale, stupid money is not as stupid as you might think.

Oh please - - no contest. No offence but I almost burst out laughing. Bale is outstanding. Michu works hard and the £2M fee was a joke but he isn't nearly as skillful. Also, when was the last time Michu scored a world class wondergoal? Bale has done it regularly and has frequently turned a game. What do you think he would have done to the Baggies yesterday?

I'd have him tomorrow and I suspect 90% of fans in the world would say the same. Swap for Michu? In a heartbeat.

Surprised that Meeechewe hasn't handed in a transfer request. I mean how has he stood living in swansea this long? Or does he live in the Bay and travel down every day like a sensible lad.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Real Madrid are the masters of merchandising. The first truly global club. They will be earning enough through image rights and merchandising from the top 5-6 galacticos to pay €100m for a player next season too.
In fact there's rumours they were also going for last minute Suarez deal for €45m today. The financial muscle they have is terrifying and sustainable.

anyway I wouldn't swap. i know it's not the 'head' answer but it is my thinking with 'heart' answer.

Michu is a Jack bastard. Fact. Love him.

There really is no contest...Bale is a super star with an abundance of skill and michu is an up and coming star who could one day reach the same level...one thing though michu needs to calm his aggression down a touch as he is heading towards a few red cards and that will not do our cause this season a lot of good..<ok>

Think the passion (which sometimes manifests itself as aggression) is part of what makes him the player he is Dai - and as for 'up and coming' he is 27 now and playing in his prime. Agree about the possible red cards although Sundays booking came after a particularly cynical foul that he reacted badly too; these things happen - far worse was Britton's stupid 'second yellow' sending off for kicking the ball away against Petrolul.

Discipline is a bit of a worry and is creeping into our game with a few players this season, i think the fair play award is out the window this season..<laugh>

It's all that Mediterranean passion rubbing off on our players - we will soon have more Spanish players than the Spanish national team! ;)

Bale is a world class player, and he tear La Liga a new one. Players in Spain do not tackle as much and as hard as they do in the Premier League and thats because the referee's are alot stricter, he will skip past most opposition with ease and thus have alot more shooting opportunities. Case in point is Ronaldo, the second he touched down in La Liga he was 60 goal a season monster, the same will happen for Bale. Put Ronaldo back in the Premier League and the game here will not give him the chances he gets so easily on Iberian Peninsula.

No chance - Bale is from Cardiff<whistle>

In any event, Huw would never agree to pay £300k a week for 6 years.............
