Now since January, we've gone from a relatively thin squad to a squad with plenty of depth and options. Though it remains to be seen whether our new acquisitions will turn out to be successes, I take great pleasure from seeing how our team is progressing under Rodgers. There were and will always be question marks over him, but I can honestly now say I like the direction he's taking us. The most important point for me is that I can see he is learning. The last three games may of been nervy, but you could see a clear game plan, we were set-up to frustrate the opposition, and let's be honest, it worked.

Now there is a fine line between defence and attack, early last season we looked very naive in getting numbers forwards, and often left our defence exposed to counter attacks. We are very much a possession team, but you can also see how we're starting to press and defend in zones now when called for. Arguably we have recently invited pressure on to us, particularly in the second half of games, but we have limited our opposition to few clear cut opportunity's, in ways it strikes me as similar tactics that Rafa employed, particularly in Europe. My one criticism from me thus far is that our decision making in the final third has been poor, in terms of trying to force something rather than being patient - Something that can be rectified in training hopefully.

Anyway, I hear a lot about how much he talks, his win ratio etc etc. What's your thoughts on him? How far can he take us? And what are our capabilities under him this season?

If you take away Rodgers' wins, he will have a 0% win rate.

That particular comment was aimed at him, did he think he'd have something to say about Rodgers but I can't say I've seen him since the season started <whistle>

    I've been really impressed too.

The handling of Suarez was impressive and he's brought in some players who are firing already and are now important members of the team.

The team look settled and I'm interested to see how we will do from here.

Stick with him and we will do well - it's been 4 years since I last felt this positive (without knowing deep down it was false) about LFC.

We have won our 3 opening games, kept 3 clean sheets and had 2 great transfer windows - the team actually look happy and clearly enjoy playing with each other. You can see from utd that most of the winning formula is about belief and mentality. we are starting to finally believe we can win games and see out leads.

    No great loss.

    He is very tedious.

  9. Since September 2012, I've been impressed by him. Sure, he could have handled a couple of things better but he is learning. He accepted that he made a mistake with Sahin and seems to have done similar with Assaidi and Borini (although they have a chance to learn, grow and return). He has said some silly things (second anyone?) but he's now changed that speech to "we can challenge over the coming seasons", that is much better IMO, it shows ambition but without applying too much pressure on his self #sensible The way we play, the squad he is building, the signings he has made have all been impressive too. Sure, his winning percentage at Liverpool is only 50% but that is pretty good going for a new manager having to rebuild a squad after several years of abuse.

I like how he's not afraid to play youngsters. Starting Sterling against City last season was a ballsy move, followed swiftly by giving both Wisdom and Suso there chances, and more importantly a run of games. And to be fair, they haven't let him down either. And now Ibe seems to be coming through.. It's the first time in years that I feel confident that if a youngster is playing well, they'll be given a chance.

Imagine where we would be if Roy was still here!

  12. I'll reserve judgement on the youngster. In three, four or five years time we'll see how well he has done with these players. playing them too early can destroy them easier than make them. I'm happy that he is willing to give them a go but I'm concerned that he might be too willing. Sterling was clearly over used last season.

Bahaha maybe a few are still feeling sore about the massive pay-off he received along with his signing Cole.

I felt Rodgers had a rocky start with the club. His early tactics were crap... his early signings were uninspired and seemed to be "buddy signings".

He matured around Xmas... stopped playing tikka takka... signed some great signings and we look better now we're not a science experiment anymore.

Early to tell if summer signings will work. Kicking out pepe took balls... but looks to be working. Not sure Luis or Aspas will make a major impact... we will see.

The team is playing great "as a team" its easy to highlight Daniel or Minnie-go-lay as stars... but really no one player deserves the praises... we've done well because of 11 players.

That said. If Stoke scored the penalty and Aston Villa and Man Untied scored 2nd half goals like they perhaps deserved... this would already be a very difficult start. There is a thin line between top of the table and being another Everton.

Should have taken him down to the basement and locked him in.

"We moved the directors box down here Mr. Hodgson."

Rodgers has done well so far but this season is the test for him, the squad is now full of his signings so no excuses. We have to at least challenge for fourth.

We are playing as a team which is good to see, i am always interested to watch how our players react after goals, missed chances, fouls, etc. I dont know if its because the average age is lower, or there are more new faces, but the guys on field look like they are playing for each other now, rather than themselves. You have to give credit to the manager for this because he will be essential in morale and spirit building. The great thing is, is that success, however you get it (and i think we have had a fair chunk of luck in our first 3 matches) breeds confidence which in turn results in success. Look at united, they have been winning stuff for years but IMO have only had 1-2 world class players per season.

Its the lads that play together as a team that do well in this league. I think Rodgers has done really well to infuse a "team first" mentality into our players. So thumbs up from me

P.S. sorry if i said the word team too much!
