Sky sports announcing the loan deal for vasquez has gone through, a youngster involved a little with the spanish international younger teams in the past. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Álvaro_Vázquez Discuss
I'm going to be an optimist and expect him to perform like on his national teams, more than in his league team. Diss and cuss if you must.
He's been linked with Swans' for some time now,and most here seemed quite happy with the possibility of him joining the Club.
I can see that people seem excited or happy with this signing, from comments on another thread. Have to be honest I am totally not convinced. His goal scoring record is less than poor with Getafe 4 in 29 ( his 4 goals were scored in 2 games, that leaves 27 goaless games) and wasnt much better better at Espanyol 10 in 60. Moores record and grahams record were as good if not better than his. I know it is not only about scoring goals but as a centre forward it does help, I maybe on my own here I am not excited by this signing. I wish him every luck, Not what I was hoping for. Lets hope its not another Schekter.
I thinks is a better deal than the proposed Peter Odemwingie one. He's only 22 and will be itching to prove himself. If he does well during this loan period we have the option to buy and he'll have a tidy sell value, if he's a flop its no big loss.
BTW - how many games will he get over the Whole season 15-20-25? That including last minute substitutions... Don't worry!
Agree with trundle on this one. Goal scoring record is poor, and that is what we need at the end of the day. Time will tell, but I fear he's another schecter.
We can allways use Pozuelo if the kid sucks. And we get him on loan. On the video I have seen he seem quite tall, fast, and with 89 La Liga matchs he must be considered a quite experienced player. Better choice then the 32 year old Cardiff dude.
I dont care what they do down the road and who they sign. I am more worried about what we do. Just not convinced. It is not like we are a team full of goals. If we can use Poz why sign this player in the first plcae. Just thought we would have tried to get someone with a better scoring record. Hope he proves me totally wrong. But totally underwhelmed by this signing.
What type service and how the team is set up has a bearing on how a striker performs , another one to judge after a few games methinks The club wouldn't have left to the last day without some good reason I suppose .
Agree with Trunds and Ash, his record in La Liga doesn't impress me, but I'd take him on loan rather than pay 4 million for odemwingie like Cardiff are reportedly doing. However I trust laudrup not to do another scheter so I'll reserve judgement for the time being.
Bony would tend to agree, but that must mean that the both clubs he was at didnt play to his stregnths. I do hope he takes off, but not sure 1m for a season is that good buisness.
The temptation is to think that if he is Spanish then he must be good, but it can't always be the case. We'll see soon enough.
I know nothing about him and his goalscoring is iffy looking at his record so I am not expecting miracles from the bloke, he'll have to prove himself. Strange how Laudrup isn't using his good rapport with Barca and Real Madrid to loan one of their upcoming strike stars.
This is what we're getting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzs2oCE4xmM&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEaq-4Vc1Dk&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj_sntSJNcs&feature=player_embedded
Bottom line is that you tend not to get into the Spanish national set up at any level unless there is something about you so I'm hopeful. He's still young and the job of a coach is to get the best out of players. I do worry about him being another Schechter but can anyone be that bad? Time will tell and he deserves a chance with us. Loan with an option is a win win.
I remember looking at you tube of jose moriera, when we signed him he looked the dogs bollock on you tube, but he turned out to be just bollocks for real. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9imyes93DZ0
