Anyone betting at all on player departure/arrivals. Keeping my eye on it but very difficult to get any sort of value. Just had a little punt on Herrera to still be at Bilbao as I don't trust Balague at all but it went out to 3/1 after he announced it.
we don't need pace up front. We will play the ball around for 88 minutes and then when we've made the opposition dizzy, we will bring on Guly to glide into the six yard box and put the ball into top corner of the stand.
It's not really very silly, considering he's not exactly important. Rodriguez is fast and Osvaldo isn't exactly Lambert pace.
Osvaldo seems to be playing through the middle, though, to the extent that we changed our formation to accommodate both he and Lambert. If we genuinely have a view to being in the top ten, or pushing for Europe in the near future, we really shouldn't be in a spot where we're putting out makeshift lineups with players out of position, yet three games in we've already featured a fair bit of that.
He said "lacking pace up front", so surely Osvaldo is a valid name to bring up, given that he plays up front.
Ben Smith, BBC Sport SOUTHAMPTON LATEST "Southampton have allowed Zambia forward Emmanuel Mayuka to join Sochaux on a season-long loan. The Saints are also trying to get a few more out."
Pace up front isn't really the problem, I don't think...pace (and skill) wide is, particularly players who are capable of putting a defense on their heels. Jay isn't much of a dribbler. It's not really Osvaldo's game. Basically, we have Lallana, and his final ball is often rather lacking.
It's all well and good talking about not needing pace and the formation we play etc but the fact is that pacey players can change games and many of the best teams in the world (who play the same system as us) like to have a couple of seriously rapid players in the first team squad to give them the option when the game opens up.
So far then he's had his lunch and taken off, eating beans, in his Suzuki Swift... He knows how to live!!
