According to the BBCâs James Pearce, the deal went dead after Newcastle owner Mike ashley allowed Cabaye a first hand audio recording of Arsenalâs phone call in which they made their bid. Pearce wrote on Twitter: Iâm told Mike Ashley let Cabaye listen to phone negotiations last week + he heard Arsenal say: â25 million a lot for a reserveâ #moodchanger. If this true then it might just change your mind if u are cabaye
How reliable the source? If true would certainly make others think twice on getting an over-inflated ego Hope he saw Hatem receiving all that adulation after the goal and thought "i want that again" I worry though, he's quite the temperemental petulant type so we could see another bad season from the lad. I dont think he'll leave today really
I hope Arsenal got the recorded message when they rang saying "This phone call maybe recorded for training purposes or to play back to our players to scupper deals if need be. Putting you through to 'Joe Kinnear', Please hang up now if you are offended by swearing..."
I just dozed off in front of Sky Sports News. Nothing for me to read, see? Had a daydream about Pardew's next press conference saying that Cabaye is World Class, we did well to keep him, he'll give his all, yada-yada. Basically deflecting all attention from not buying anyone, nicely fielded first press conference, done and dusted on to the next.
Ah the standard Pards rhetoric, it's like drilling through your own ear having to hear those pre-rehearsed lines. This window will go one three ways for us today. Absolutely nothing. One player in on the last hour One player leaving on last hour. Ive wasted months reading transfer rumours either way
