Where are the doom and gloom merchants now? Add Moses on Loan as a short term filler for this season and get a quality AM next year (when hopefully we're in the CL) and that will be a damn decent side. Also, if we're in the CL, whats to say Suarez doesn't stick around? Win Win me thinks..
marquee... no. good yes. simple fact is a mad billionaire bought lots of Cbs for his side and the guy is surplus. same as sturridge. Sturridge is not a marquee signing ergo some guy from a foriegn league aint either. Both excellent singings that will improve us big time btw... but not marquee....
Rodgers and the committee have done a lot of work in 3 transfer windows - removing so much crap from the squad and replacing it with better quality. This transfer window is another one where I can heap praise on the committee for their targets. Fair enough, we failed to land 1 of the 3 attackers but the names alone give me confidence that we're targeting the right players. Added to the fact Papa and Sakho were our first targets for central defence is another glowing reference. Moses could prove to be a shrewd loan signing - shame there is no option to buy at the end though. I still feel that we're one top class attacker short...
Not according to Ian Ayre http://www.koptalk.co.uk/20130902626/ian-ayre-mamadou-sakho-is-our-marquee-signing.html
Depends on your definition of marquee. I say marquee because we've signed a top class CB with potential to become world class. I would class him in the same bracket as Suarez and Torres. Young players who have a very good reputation around Europe with the potential to push on. He's a player who would not be out of place in any team in the world.
I couldn't really care if we don't get said signing.. A nice functional tent from Millets that does its job and helps us improve is just as valuable..
I'm not too bothered about Moses not having a "option" to buy.. It's win win as far as I'm concerned, he comes to us with a point to prove to Chelsea, plays a blinder and goes back there, thanks for the service and good luck. Or he come's, gutted he's not in the Chelsea team anymore, sulks, doesn't perform, thanks but no thanks, off you go lad at the end of the year..
The Sakho signing is excellent news in terms of a purchase of a player who will be able to reinforce the pool of CBs available right now. Proven French international and should be a good purchase, even if a bit pricy for a CB. Ilori will be one for the future. A bit pricy, but could still end up playing for England, so might turn out to be cheap for an Englishman
Meh, never trust a player who chose to go to Chelsea, just shows his mindset. Hope he proves me wrong.
Taken from SSN Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague Real Madrid rang Liverpool 2 weeks ago abt Suarez & wr told he is not 4 sale & dont ring again. No calls made by Madrid 4 Luis 2day so far 10:51 AMReplyRetweetFavorite
Personally I'd take it. However I don't think they will, Luis will still be a Liverpool player come 11 o'clock tonight.
Benzema is not the right kind of striker for us and we have quality talent in Ozil's position. I'd turn down that deal if it happened. Suarez is ideal for our system. I think we're done. Apart from maybe Given. I am satisfied.
