Morning Everyone, Losing 1-0 to a late scrappy goal against the team expected to run away with the league, is, in my opinion not too bad. Don't get me wrong, obviously, I would have far preferred the win or draw, but when you see how much money has been spent on both teams, surely we were always going to be up against it.... Agree? One point that I'd make is that eight of the starting line up for QPR were over 30?? Good thing or bad? Could we have got something from the match? Were we unlucky? Transfer deadline day is upon us..... We want to hear about all your rumours, sightings, however unlikely. We have our raving Not606 reporters at the airports, outside ER, Thorp Arch, the M62 and McDonalds.... Lets hear about it first on Not606...
There is a tug o war going on for Pugh. Not words you thought you would be reading I know. Wednesday and Notts County are battling it out. The bidding war is ongoing but a fee of £20,000 is currently rumoured........ More to follow. Morning all.
Morning I think we were unlucky on Saturday.we should have had at least a free kick on the edge of the box when barton pushed austin over then austin hit the woodwork at the end.i think we deserved a point against the supposed favorites. We definitely need someone down the flanks hope we can get someone in today but looks like we might have to wait for the loan window. Mot
Was raving reporters a slip? Not so sure about all the QPR hype. Everyone assuming they'll run away with league. Remember Blackburn and wolves last season. Both tipped to do similar bit failed miserably. We're certainly more organised this season and players more confident but have created almost no chances in three televised matches which is a major worry plus football is poor to watch and to be honest, unlikely to fill many extra seats. First time in years I'm looking forward to the transfer window. Usually I don't switch on sky at all on final day as we were either selling or buying crap. Nice to know those days are in the past. Hate to see Liverpool back top of pl. their supporters are as sickening as ever. 25 years since top prize and every phone in here on TV and radio has them gloating that they'll win the pl softer three games.
On paper not a bad result on Saturday, but I think the best is yet to come from both sides. QPR are feeling their feet with a lot of experienced players who know how to get out of this league. Harry is still looking to spend and bring in yet another 3-players today, so I imagine QPR will see a bigger rise in performance than we will. QPR will take all 3-points of many of the top clubs, so not a catastrophic result. Leeds are a much more controlled side this season, and we can all see that although we're not endowed with loads of skill and flair, we have a great team and work ethic now. I hope we can bring in at least one more quality player to ensure we run close to the top 6 this season. My question today is: is Ross worth a 4-year contract?
Morning all!! QPR not dominating games but getting the results by the odd goal. Still feel Forest are better equipped for the Championship title. 'Arry, like that prat Venables, is over rated, and he is the king of spending transfer money. He will leave QPR in a mess when he goes, its his way. One thing is certain, if QPR fail to go up they will fall apart financially, so interesting to see they are still playing Russian roulette and trying to buy MORE players. They are still stuck with the likes of Barton and Cesar who are on HUGE wages, must be stinging them a lot. This club is an example of owners risking the lot to get straight back to the Prem regardless of cost, yet this league guarantees you nothing. QPR are not the finished article, and when they hit that customary speedbump we'll see what they're made of. Nice August sunshine is one thing, a freezing cold Tuesday night at Barnsley is a totally different challenge. As for Leeds, I was very disappointed that we lost to a team I class as capable but not brilliant. We have to start taking the lead, or more close losses will follow. Conceding the lead late on makes it very hard, and its a bad habit carried over from last season. Hopefully today we offload five lemons and get in some quality. Now that would make my day.
Morning all. The money they've spent & the squad & they have, as well as having arguably the best Manager in the league, they should walk this division. So a 1-0 scrappy loss for us, even at home, wasn't too bad. Consensus is gorowing that we'll be there or thereabouts cum the end of the season. On transfers, I'm available if required so long as my contract stipulates that playing with a walking stick and after a couple of pints is acceptable!! Alternatively, assuming Hall has no future at Leeds or at least is going out on loan so that BMD can take a better look at him, all we need is a winger that can put the ball on Smith's head. We have the midfield and others who can get on the end of knock downs. So all, as far as I can see, is starting to take shape. I would imagine that we'll have a BCD game to help Byram improve his fitness. So for our next game, I think the side should be: Kenny Peltier Wooten Pearce Drury Byram (assuming he's fit enough to start) Austin (base of the diamond) Murphy (with Mowatt on the bench) Diouf at the head of the diamond McCormack Varney (with Poleon on the bench) Thoughts
Morning all I fully expect QPR to walk this league they are still in second gear, solid at the back and enough class to do what they did with us and Bolton. Its frustrating still watching us no creativity at all. four points from three home games isn't the best start for me. McD thinks we will get better but i just can't see it with the present squad, we need some pace and power or i can see the crowds dwindling again as the season goes on. Hopefully we can ship some of the dross out today and get someone in but i still think we need another three quality players if we are wanting to progress.
Nice lineup Boggers, still prefer Byram at full back though, he defends much better than Peltier. QPR look like signing Carroll from Spurs on loan, quality player. Also hoping to get Essou-Ekotto and Adebayor!! Crikey, they are throwing the cash about. Do they have any players we can loan off them? Their squad is going to have a few not registered!!
Just seen Billy Sharps dog walking through Leeds with a Leeds shirt on must be waiting for him to sign
Isn't Andy Carroll at West Ham Billy? Way too good for this league. More to the point, if he has hopes of playing for England, why would he drop down a division?
Morning All Long time since I've commented on one of these threads. Gotta love Deadline Day. Hope we sign a couple of players before I get back from work at 3pm.
Gotta be honest, I'm not holding out much hope and think it is quite unlikely we will sign anyone today. I think we need to but it just doesn't seem likely, hope I can be proven wrong. Also, Middlesbrough are hoping to conclude the signing of Becchio on loan from Norwich City. Why does every team seem to continually overlook Billy Sharp, great striker at this level and not even going for that much compared to players of similar quality.
Fair enough Josh. Just how many players do QPR really need, when they can already bring on the likes of Junior Hoilett aas a sub?
Yea I'm not sure, looking at their squad though they really don't need any more central midfielders even if they were to sell Barton. They currently have 10 CMs but only 3 CBs, 2 of which are over 33 and one of which plays LB for them anyway. I've never understood Arry's recruitment tactics
Apparently we are open to loaning out Diouf, it is from the Fail though so take it with a pinch of salt. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...ort-leeds-open-to-diouf-departure_102316.html
On one level MTMB, I think selling or loaning White represents a massive missed opportunity. However, as Mowatt already looks as though he'll be providing stiff competition for Murphy (a £1m recruit), I think the missed opportunity actually rests mainly with White himself rather than the club. Heyho, c'est la vie.
