FANS OPEN DAY ON TUESDAY PUBLISHED 11:54 1st September 2013 by @OfficialQPR Join your fellow Râs at our summer Open Day in W12 ⦠LOFTUS Road will play host to a Fans Open Day on Tuesday, as the club opens its doors to its loyal supporters for what promises to be a day to remember in W12. Tuesday 3rd September is the date for your diary, on a day when Râs fans will be able to get closer to the action by watching the First Team squad train on our new lush Loftus Road playing surface. Following on from the success of previous years, doors to the West Paddock will open at 10.30am, with the event scheduled to finish at 12.30pm. Entry for U-16âs is free (when accompanied by a parent or guardian), whilst adults will be asked to pay a £2 donation, with all proceeds going to our charitable arm, QPR in the Community Trust. Aside from the on the pitch activities, which will culminate in a penalty shoot-out for Râs fans to cast their eye over, club mascots Jude and Spark will be in attendance, and the QPR Superstore â which will be open from 9am-5pm â will be running a special promotion , with free printing available on childrenâs shirts purchased on the day! The West Paddock kiosks will be open throughout the morning for refreshments and the players will be on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos, so donât forget to bring your camera along to savour every minute of this truly unique day. The club looks forward to sharing this special occasion with our supporters in what promises to be a day to remember for Râs fans of all ages. Please note - We are aware the date of the Fans Open Day coincides with some children returning to school, but owing to the schedule this was the only day we could host the event. A lot of schools in the local area don't return to school until September 5th - and we were keen to continue the tradition of this event this summer. Our U-18 fixture at Loftus Road 24 hours earlier, coupled with the late transfer window this summer, meant this was the only date available. Isn't it too late, all the kids are back in school since last week. Why didn't they do this earlier in the Summer when all the kids were on holidays? Bad planning.

Great idea from the club, saw the pictures and it's good to see the players involved with the fans and enjoying themselves. You could never anticipate anything like this happening last season. Well done to all who organised it all.
Not sure the club had open days when they were in the Prem. I took my kids to one when Warnock took over and they loved it, still talk about it now and were gutted they are back at school today and missed it. Don't know if the club/players realise what a couple of hours spent with young kids means to the future fans! Hope the club do another soon, maybe before the champions parade

There wasnt much notice given for this, but luckily my little boy was able to go with his gran/my mum (I had to work, unfortunately). He had a grand old time by the sounds of it.
I managed to get the day off of work and took my two daughters. It was a great day, much better than last year. There were twice as many fans too. They even had to open the lower school end as the paddock was full. There were around 1,000 fans in total. We met and spoke with most of the players, Danny Simpson and wait for it............. Joey Barton were the stand outs among them. Joey couldn't do enough. He was refreshingly honest with every question that was asked, and he spent time talking to every fan and posing for pictures with them. I know it's not a lot to ask, but he stood out because a lot of players were blanking any questions and said nothing as they did signings and posed for pictures. He said that his mission this season was to get us back into the Prem. No matter what it takes I want to get this club where it should be. Danny Simpson seemed like a really nice bloke and engaged with the fans more than he needed to. He also said that he loved being here and was really enjoying his football again. Clint Hill told us how great it felt to score the winner at Leeds and even joked that it was a 'Massive 3 points.' He also said that Paddy Kenny completely blanked him after the game, and wouldn't talk to him. As for the training, McClaren and Bond take it in turns to pick a player for their side like we used to in the school playground. Each team then played each other in a high intensity match and then undertook a series of tasks, running, shooting with strongest foot and weakest foot. McClaren was really taking it seriously and whooped with joy as his side were in the lead. You could see that the players really wanted to do well for them. Hill really stood out as he wanted to win everything and was constantly bollacking SWP when he fecked up. He really is a winner. I feel sorry for his kids.
That's really nice to hear - makes the club seem more accessible. Was it more fun for the kids or adults?
