Bale has played in the CL and tore apart a few teams, Inter for one! And for the record, Messi is better than Ronaldo.

Stats ? Games, goals, assists, points gained per game, win percentage etc etc. Wherever they played - clubs, international matches, European Champs Leagues etc etc etc.

Not disputing you, just think you guys need to back it up...

    Stats don't mean everything ffs.

Norwich had more chances, passes and possession than us, but did they win?

Also, look on the internet at his performance against the man who was considered at the time the best RB in the world against the then European Cup holders.

Stats are meaningless in one game. Against one player, in one (maybe 2 off-form-games) also meaningless. The impact a player has on the overall/long term success of a team, the contribution to that team's/those teams successes are very important. That's why the best players command the highest transfer fees, or are hung on to for dear life and not sold. That's the only way to get meaningful back-up to the "better than" arguments.

So by your logic Bale is the best player in the world?

You do know who we are on about, don't you?

You do realise that Bale near enough single handedly took Spurs as far as they did go in the UCL?

Last season he was the reason they finished 5th. Without him they would have been somewhere like 8th.

Yep, the amount of points Bale won for Spurs was stupid, last minute goals/corners/free kicks. There's no doubting Bale's quality, just the stupid price tag that comes along with good players nowadays.

Agreed. He's worth nowhere near a world record fee... but in my mind no person is worth more than what he actually owns.

    In the real world anyways.

I remember when I was younger and Hessle Sporting had to pay a fiver to sign/register me from Hessle Rangers, I think I was the record signing!

Not saying that at all. "Long term" are the key words. Bale is a very good player. Messi & Ronaldo have proved their value long term - relative to Bale's contribution. I personally think it's absurd the fee that was paid for Bale. Spurs punched above their weight because of his contribution in the last couple of seasons. He may well surpass them over an extended period. Long term stats will indicate that. What I was really trying to get from you guys were long term stats to back up the statements you & Macca had with "The Casual" re Messi vs Ronaldo.
    I clearly didn't convey that.

He's played 6 games in the CL. Its hardly proven. Yes he ripped Maicon a part, but that was one game. There's 10 better players in his position at the moment. That will probably change in the next few years.

Ronaldo is far better all round player then Messi. Ronaldo is the perfect footballer and scores every type of goal.

I like that...I'm originally from Hessle ( many many years ago mind !). Did Hessle Rangers play in the Recca off Park Ave just opposite Darleys ? What were your stats after that 5 quid transfer fee ?

You're asking for stats from a 24 year old compared to Ronaldo, who has had a lot more time to prove his worth.

I never said he was proven, I said he has proven he can do it in the Champions League. Name me 10 better left wingers than Bale, I'd say Ronaldo and Ribery are better than Bale at the moment.

Nah Hessle Rangers played on Hessle school and Hessle Sporting played on recca. At Sporting we won everything for years.

Go on then, name 10 players in his position better than him.

By the way, he tore Maicon apart in both Inter games.

Also, that is ****e reasoning for why Ronaldo is better. Messi scores every 'type' of goal as well. The difference being Messi scores more. The only type of goal Ronaldo is better at is heading, but he does have a height advantage.

    Interesting thought that Macca.

Define "Intellectual property" or "talent" or "business acumen" or even "potential". You're just about to embark on a University trip....don't FFS go into that experience with those thoughts. Apologies if I seem to be lecturing, not meant to be, but Bale is not going into his new endeavour with that attitude. Seize the day, anyone can be worth more than they own. Slight problem of course - it's called capitalism, somewhat despised, but hard work and talent gets you to own more than you were worth yesterday. Potential is the key word.

I probably didn't word it correctly. What I meant by that was that I feel that no player should cost more than a couple of million. I probably should have made that more clear.

He's not a left winger anymore. He's attacking midfielder like Ronaldo, Messi. Iniesta, Ribery, Ozil, Silva, Aguero and Gotze have all ready records.

The biggest reason Bale has cost so much is because he's young and has massive potential. If he look at the facts he's had one class season.
