Notice no one is talking about Welbeck dive on this side of the pond. Glen Johnson was having one of those really good games before he got injured and the replay did not look good for that left knee.
Surprised Evra carried on after the crunching he got Fair play to him Welbeck's dive was awful, if it had been Suarez (or any other non-British player) there would have been a ten minute analysis and followed media slaughtering!
I'm just glad they got rid of that pathetic sycophant Colin Murray. I say they should get more journos on but if they've all got as weak minds as him then perhaps not.
He claimed Welbeck was running in on goal too. I suppose if you class five yards to the left of the six yard box whilst only three yards from tge touchline and running towards said touchline as running in on goal then he's right
I quite liked Murray lol MOTD hasn't been great for years although to be fair i'm usually out on the piss and miss it. Starting watching it again and Lineker, although nice enough bloke, is just so boring and getting used to people blowing smoke up his arse. Shearer. Loved him for England, but he is just so dull. Hansen I don't mind but again he is a dour Scott, needs to have balance with someone a bit more lively. Not everyone's choice, but Ian Wright at least has some enthusiasm. Quite enjoying listening to him on 5Live. Obviously an Arsenal fan but pretty reasonable about it.
MOTD is a load of crap. As mentioned above the editing was dubious and some of the commentary was down right biased. But anyway back to the REAL issues. Delighted with the win. Impressed by the defensive organisation and resolve. Particularly against United and Villa there were long periods in which we soaked up pressure but rarely let them penetrate our box. United's attacks may have appeared more threatening because they did get some telling crosses in. The problem is that we do not appear to be able to either hold the ball on the halfway line when we do break out or we are too careless with our passing. Today I think we can forgive our attack as Sturridge was playing with an injury and it took Aspas most of the game to realise that Vidic can be attacked!. I still don't really want him back in our team but a fit Suarez would change that dynamic very quickly. Thought Wellbeck should have got a yellow for simulation. Giggs most certainly should have received one for that tackle on Courtinho after he'd made Giggs looks silly. But why oh why didn't somebody rile RvP just a little more? He's a dirty bastard anyway and he'd lost his cool and would have seen red with a little prompting. But this will be the longest that we have remained in the No1 slot because of the internationals!!
We did well to win. Aspas was pretty awful today. IMO the best player on the field was Lucas, made some key tackles however it does concern me he has absolutely no idea what to do when attacking the opposition. None of their key players did well and for me Valencia was the game changer for them. Good win against our rivals and top of the league
Pretty much this Defensively, we were solid. I'm not surprised as I maintain that MUFC lack creativity unless Rooney and RVP conjure up something special. It wasn't until RVP did exactly that against Swansea after being under the cosh for a while. We still put ourselves under a lot of pressure from set pieces and crosses, which is why I still believe either Toure and Sakho will come straight into our defence. In addition, you mention our inability to hold the ball up at the half way line - this is why I don't like our central midfield partnership of Lucas and Gerrard. Defensively, they were solid but they cannot dictate the tempo or take control of the game when we are under pressure. It's still one of our weakest areas. As you say about Suarez - despite what the stats show about our performances with him in the team, he will change our attack and improve it. Can't wait to see Sturridge, Suarez and Coutinho in full flow.
I think it shows how poor Man Utd were when we're still looking at how Liverpool can improve even after we've beaten Utd I haven't watched Victor Moses much so I don't know all that much about him, but can he add some power and muscle to our forward play? because in all of our games so far, whenever our passing game has broken down, our frontline, with the debatable exception of Sturridge, has looked pretty lightweight. I am impressed at our solidity in defence though and ability to close games out, but I think that when Sakho comes in we'll be able to play a higher line more effectively and that'll hopefully help our forward play because we can then attack as a unit.
A strong performance, particularly from a defensive perspective. the mancs never really looked like scoring. The back four were excellent, including Skrtel (Gerrez) and Lucas was outstanding. We can improve on that as well. can everyone who was whining before this match, predominantly about our transfer business, now shut the **** up and get behind the team and the club for the next game against Swansea. One game at a time
