To be fair, the Lallana substitution was the best of all our substitutions yesterday! Unless he had a knock, and it was disclosed that he didn't, it did seem a mighty strange switch at the time, a bit like Redmond last week for us.

All I can say is I'm glad they can't let it out anywhere else. The idea of real life being lived in the manner of fans at (or discussing) a football match doesn't bear thinking about! <laugh> <ok>

The switch brought Gaston Ramirez on. Fans see a player they think has played well (but without the desired result) brought off and wonder why. Answer: because the manager thinks something different is needed to break the deadlock. If they'd scored, it would have been a stroke of genius on MP's part. Says it all really. <ok>

Yeah, but he didn't, ergo it remains questionable to the average fan <ok>

What about playing him as an attacking mid with redmond on one side and Snoddy on the other. All three can play down both wings and through the middle. Tell them all to roam if they do it well could be very hard to defend against.

Not read through all the thread. Think it was a brilliant performance. Fer, Redmond and Bassong were the best three players on the day. I just wanted to mention how good Elmander was though. His close control is superb as well as his intelligence. More than anything though I get the impression he is such a cool head and numerous times he was encouraging to calm things down etc. Also he was communicating to RVW very well which really helped with our high pressing which I think kept Southampton at bay and unsettled there defence whenever they had the ball.

I had this as my predicted line up for saturdays game!! I would love to see us try it, as they are all able to interchange those positions.
