Football Star Bob Malcolm Banned For Falling Asleep On Motorway

30 Jan 2008 00:00 FORMER Rangers and Scotland defender Bob Malcolm has been banned from driving after being found fast asleep and drunk in the middle lane of a motorway.

Amazingly, Derby County player Malcolm thought he had pulled over to the side of the road after being "overtaken by tiredness".
He was found slumped over the wheel of his silver Range Rover in the middle of the M1 and a recovery vehicle driver had to wake him up before calling cops.

A roadside breath test showed he was more than double the limit. Yesterday Malcolm was fined Â£750, banned from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay Â£75 costs. He also agreed to take a drink-drivers' rehab course which will reduce his ban by five months if he completes it successfully. Malcolm - who was on loan to London club Queen's Park Rangers at the time - has suggested on the club's website that he was "very upset and frustrated" by the referee's performance in a game the previous day.
