My main worry to be honest is that in all our games this season we have had most possession......In yesterday's game...11 shots only 2 on target. 58% possession is suggesting we dominated them but clearly from the reports on here we did not. From a mate that went to the game he seemed to think our play in the final third let us down in that the final ball was always predictable. Is that a fair assessment do you think?
From the highlights we got caught with the ball in midfield too often. Would like to see gaston given a chance. The ref was poor and we haven't had any decisions go our way this season... yet.
This is an interesting stat, and had it been confined to the BBC, I would probably dismiss it's accuracy but apparently Opta are coming up with a similar figure although I have not seen it to verify. However, having watched it, albeit on a very stop/start stream I am still puzzled as to how this stat has come about. Without putting percentages on it, the first 10 minutes belong to Norwich, then Saints came in to the game more and probably shaded the remainder of the first half. The 2nd half was almost a direct reversal with Saints starting strongly and Norwich taking control for a large chunk in the middle of the 2nd half, with Saints pressing hard in the last 10.
Haven't even looked on Saintsweb as I knew they'd overreact. We have four points from 3 games and have let in 2 goals. We made a lot of chances at WBA and deserved to win (even though only via a penalty...which last time I looked was a valid way of winning a game). The big disappointment was not beating Sunderland at home, despite chances. The game yesterday was pretty even with Norwich being slightly ahead...1.0 was not a surprising result. If we create chances and don't let many goals in, we will win games. My concern is that we don't seem to be doing the pressing game that was so successful and fun to watch...perhaps we are missing Clyne and Shaw. And even Puncheon. Perhaps Mauricio is getting more careful....a sign we saw at the end of last season. Or perhaps we are just 3 games into the season.
Or perhaps the manager isn't getting his ideas across to the team well enough? Seems a question mark about motivation at times. The team slacked off badly after we beat Reading and were safe last season. I've not yet seen evidence of anything Poch has done via subs or tactics to change a game in our favour.
Of course its relevant. Same manager, mostly same players, in fact we are told we now have better players... but the same pattern in games is clearly there. Lots of possession, missed chances, not scoring from open play, looking vunerable against players who run at us and no Plan B.
If its any concern lads the exact same "worriers" (we call them the "pant wetters") are doing exactly the same thing at Norwich and they are doing exactly the same thing at Swansea there jut seems to be a section of fans that are always worrying and calling for the managers head. Maybe it's the premier league? Maybe it turns some fans into little Chelsea fans screaming "'x' out!" Everytime a game goes against you. From an impartial person who was at the game yesterday when Southampton click they are going to be very hard to beat indeed and will score goals against anyone. Your passing was generally good get the end ball sorted and you are cooking on gas it's just a question of gelling the new squad members it's exactly the same with us atm Us, Southampton and Swansea are the new breed of premier league club and the old guard are going to call in our wake we should be proud of that.
Have you guys had the "I hope I'm proven wrong"ers yet haha! Love those dickheads!! "We will go down but I'd love to be proven wrong" means "I want to have a massively negative opinion to appear educated but really have no confidence in the prediction at all"
So you don't believe in fans being able to have valid questions about team selections, tactics, transfers and club direction? Believe it or not, it doesn't hurt the club to voice opinions on the internet. It really doesn't. It also doesn't make you a lesser fan. Now where is my "Saints are Number1" Foam finger #ultra.
Lol got no issue with fans ring negative, be pretty hard to support football if I did, miserable arseholes everywhere. I do have an issue with fans posting a massively negative opinion, mostly with no facts or sexed up facts and then add the "I'd love to be proven wrong" at the end. Just a massive cop out and proves you don't truly believe in the point you are trying to get across. When Southampton click, might be in 2 games, might be in 5 they will be dangerous. That's my opinion. Glad we played you now.
I find people being annoyed by negativity fairly silly and irrational. Gmi wouldnt have been annoying at all if it wasnt for the morons trying to prove how smart they were by contesting his drunken windups. Ive been on saintsweb and found the pathetic negativity very amusing.
