With North African refugees from Tunisia and Libya flooding Italy's Mediterranean island of Lampedusa, Silvio Berlusconi has stated that his government hope to issue travel visas, allowing them access to other EU nations. Germany is not pleased. Berlusconi said that he wanted the support of the member countries. He stated either the EU was real and concrete, or not. If not, it should split, allowing countries to handle their own affairs. Where does the average UK citizen stand on the topics of refugees and the EU?
I have no problem with genuine refugees coming to this country. As for the EU, it has its faults but in a world where we have a superpower like the USA and emerging superpowers like China and India it makes economic and political sense to be a part of a union, rather than standing alone.
For once, I have to agree with Berlusconi. It's unfair that Italy has to deal with the influx of refugees alone, especially since the UK and France are the 2 countries who agitated for intervention in an internal Libyan dispute.
Berlusconi has obviously seen the state of the Libyan women and decided that they should be moved on.
They can all **** off our country is in administration, (true story, a roma gypsy beggar has been sending 36,000 euro a year, home for the past 7 years the circuit court in dublin has been told. another a plane from Poland(not refugees i know but ****s all the same) landed at terminal 2 Dublin Airport carrying 187 passengers with not 1 single item of luggage. They were on day return tickets and were just here to sign on the social)
send them all to Ireland since they seem to be bailed out by the rest of us all the time. makes perfect sense.
If the UK is anything like Australia (my home) you people don't pull your weight. From the stats I've seen, both the UK and Australia verging on extreme racism. I don't know whether it's just politicians pandering to the lowest common denominator, or we the people are being preyed upon by the media at large, who thrive on beat ups and fear.
It's the media and special interest groups stirring up fear and trouble. If you read newspapers like the Daily Mail they would have you too frightened to leave your home in case you get mugged, raped then killed by *****phile, Muslim terrorists hiding round every corner. Look at ER. He lives in a wee village in the middle of ****ing nowhere yet he's a complete bigot. It's the same when you read the Daily Mail letters page. It's full of letters complaining about the influx of immigrants and refugees and the people writing them live in places like Piddle-On-The-Wye and the only time they see an immigrant is when they hire them to clean their stables.
who's afraid of them ? because you dont like something doesnt mean youre afraid of it. i work with lots of polaks and the majority of them are sound, i did box the head off 1 'colleague' but that wasnt racial, xenophobia it was because he was a grass
Wether or not you are for or against immigration, you cant deny it does cause problems. Why invite problems into our already **** society?
I suggest a swap programme. We get hard working and well educated people from Africa and Asia. We send them the uneducated, work shy bastards from The Scheme
