Lennon and may be rotated on the right this season, as I don't think Townsend is ready to take his place yet. Carroll going on loan to Ajax may have given Sigurdsson another season, but if Carroll kicks on in the Eredivisie he'll be coming back to see Siggy headed out the door to accommodate him.
Massimo Louongo has now moved to Swindon on a permanent deal. The fee is reported to be around £400,000 and the player has got himself a 3 year deal with the option of a 4th year. Mark my words, this player will be worth far more in excess of this in a few years time, he is capable of going a long way in the game.
it does sound like a strange deal based on what i've heard of him. it's such a shame in a way that we are bringing through a crop of talented players for the first time in decades, just as for the first time in decades there's no place for them in the side. i mentioned on another thread earlier, that if carroll does go to ajax, then maybe pritchard could follow him next season. if we buy hilalovic, i fear there may never be a chance for either of them at spurs though. if the ajax deal does not come off, i really hope we give tom a chance with the squad this season rather than sending him to play for that horrible man at crystal palace.
i'd have thought the likes of swansea, everton, villa, fulham would have bitten our hand off to have tom for a season by the way.
Ajax have announced they have agreed on a deal with Heracles Almelo to get midfielder Lerin Duarte. The 23 year old Duarte is a product from the Sparta Rotterdam youth academy and is the envisioned replacement for Eriksen. I guess this means that Tom Carroll will unlikely play a big part in Frank de Boer's plan for this season.
Not good news at all. And it doesn't augur well for Pritchard either IMHO. Not everyone at the Academy will make the grade, but selling the better of the prospects does not strike me as smart. But you have been told the Academy grand plan, Spurcat, so we can only wait to hear from you once the logic has been explained (player unhappy, decent sell-on fees etc) .
I agree, but there's no way we'll keep chadli, lamela, Townsend and lennon happy IMO. As we can still get good money for him, i feel he'll be a surprising departure. SOS has summed it up well it it being a World Cup year.
Is Carroll actually confirmed? I've read palace are after him and we want him to have prem experience.
Just checked the Dutch media the Ajax club website, no announcement nor rumours of negotiations starting, just that Spurs offered him to Marc Overmars. The experts say, and me included, that it was between Carroll and Duarte but that the later was always the prime target for Ajax. Now that Heracles agreed on a deal it looks highly unlikely that Carroll will move to Amsterdam.
They mentioned that on the Football League Show last night, and I did a double take - a year ago he was being touted as a potential long-term prospect, but then Mick McCarthy ruined him. Hope we have a sell-on clause, because he might be moving up the leagues soon.
Very surprised at letting Mass go. Think he has a great future, though I suppose realistically looking at his chances, with Paulinho, Capoue, Sandro, Dembele, Holtby and Carroll all currently ahead of him in CM options, it would be a tough task getting ahead of any of those. Best of luck to him, I hope Levy inserted a sell on clause in his deal as Swindon will be getting a lot more than £400k for him if he impresses and bigger clubs come calling.
For me, Mass going is the sign of ambition from our club that we've not witnessed before. Until very recently we'd be expecting players like mass to come through and be the future, but i feel that the club have now realised that in order to compete, we've got to have the big names. Unfrotunately, this will impact on players that will make it from our youth system, but i don't think we've got a choice if we want to truly be successful, bearing in mind the billionnaire owned clubs around us who throw millions at anyone and everyone. I've spoken about how we have to start thinking like businessmen now, and not football fans, as unfortunately that's the way the game has gone. We all have players we love and have huge hopes for, but Gareth Bale is another example that players will come and go. With our recent influx of players in order to compete at the top, players on the fringe like Mass, falque etc, are going to really struggle now. It's only the cream of the crop like Carroll and Townsend, who will make it (hopefully), IMO. The rest will be sold on to clubs below us, pocketing us a few decent transfer fees every season. There just isn't the room in the squad for as many youngsters, when you have to consider being strong enough to compete on all fronts. - That means a certain % of top drawer foreign players, which in turn destroys the chances of many of the youngsters. However, best of luck to Mass. Swindon are a great club.
This is why I wanted another striker but it's too late now. No goal today was disappointing but predictable. Our lack of PL goals in open play is now being noticed all over the place so let's just get that goal. It's the same scenario as a team without a win then wins and it kick starts their season. Come on Spurs get that effing open play goal.
Striker isn't the problem. It's lack of service causing h to drop deeper. Exact same problem we had 2011-2012.
