Bad move in my opinion. I think we're threadbare considering all the competitions we're involved in so having one less is incomprehensible. And sending him to a competitor?!? Daft!

I also agree, he is one of the most tidy midfielders we have in my oppinion and rarely gives the ball away. I cant understand Laudrups love for JDG.

Disappointed we have let him go, granted it's only a lone but still disappointed. I can only assume/hope that Laudrup has been lining up another midfielder to fill the void. Agree on De Guzman baffling.

The Board & Laudrup seem to think we made a mistake in breaking our transfer record in getting Ki. Like most of you I think they're wrong. Always played out of position and in fairness has behaved professionally and kept quiet about it. He was a different player at Celtic where he was correctly played in a more attacking role. Laudrup has De Guzman blinkers but I just don't get it, sorry.

The other night in Romania the difference in our play was palpable when Ki replaced De Guzman, who couldn't keep the ball and couldn't pass it either.

All in all a truly shocking decision.

Presumably The Board sanctioned his purchase,Knackered. All in all, a mystifying decision to loan him out, even though there is a January recall clause,if required.

I thought that Ki had been identified before Laudrup joined - albeit that the deal went through when ML was Manager.

Personally, I would have kept him in preference over JDG.

What's driving his move is the 2014 World Cup. If he wants to make the Korean squad and prepare properly he has to be playing regularly.

JDG and Tiendalli are in similar positions with Holland. It would make sense for JDG to be busting a gut for us to ensure that he maintains is place in the Dutch squad (I don't think he has been selected for the next round of matches) and prepares properly for the tournament.

For these three players, 2014 is the only tournament in their careers that they will be able to compete for a position in their national squads. By 2018, they may be getting too old to be considered.

To me it makes no difference if it was the board who signed him/wasn't Laudrups signing. Neither was Vorm, Williams, Dyer etc....
It just seems a poor decision - Ki should be in our starting 11. Everyone seems baffled ???

A very daft decision to leave him go and keep that useless git from Holland. The only logical explanation is that we are bringing in somebody else. With all the midfielders that Spurs have signed, I wouldn't mind seeing Gylfi come back on loan <ok>

Whet is driving the move is Laudrup wants ki out of the club he has no confidence in him and his fitness is suspect, it is common knowledge that ki and laudrup do not get on, ki is a bit of a big time charlie around the club it has nothing to do with 2014 yankee, if his move to wearside works out there will be a cut price deal at the end of the season<ok>

We all agree that Ki is a top player but in ML's defence it was Ki who was wanted more game time, which is understandable and felt a move was necessary to fulfil that goal. It's a pity Ki didn't wait until January before deciding to leave which would have allowed more time for the team structure to develop. The same scenario applies to all the players in the squad but its ML who has to make the big decisions. It wasn't ML that told Ki to go in fact he made it clear he wanted him to stay but could not guarantee him regular first eleven game time again something that applies to the whole squad.

While I'm not going to go over the top like Dai, I do question ML's judgement here. Poor decision and this makes me worried that our central midfield is suddenly a lot weaker.

Either something has happened in the backroom or someone is coming in.

could be a master stroke? sunderland are likely to give ki a lot of premier game time, we have a clause to recall him in January - he will be well played and can pop back into the squad just as the rest of the squad start feeling the burn after all these pre-new year games! ki is happy because he got game time, we are happy because he has played lots of games therefore further settling him into the premiership.

At the end of the day, if we had not allowed ki to go somewhere, on the presumption he wants more game time, he probably wouldnt have performed well anyway (as would have been unhappy)...

So now it's not clear whether it was Ki or ML driving the move. I can see reasons for both depending on the facts.

Bottom line for me is that it's shame he has left. I think he could have contributed, is a better fit to our style of play; did contribute on Thurs. Glad he can be recalled in January - I hope this is true. We may yet need him as there are plenty of new players - Shelvey, Canas, Poz - who have to show that they can deliver for us at this level. JDG performance last Thurs was not inspiring. Ki has, can and would deliver - known quantity.

Sunderland fan in peace bonny lads.

Going by the noises emanating from down there, we are getting a canny player?
Christ do we need a creative MF which was evident today.
Our resident Korean isn't doing himself any favours up front.
My worry is he will come here and you will reap the benefit later.
I still hold out hope we sneak Rose back from Spurs this window on a permanent.

I'm sick of loans with no right to buy. (No offence but just hope the new guys upstairs have the sense to do it.)
