Saturday 31st August see the Chairboys take on Phil Brown's Shrimpers looking to get back to winning ways and to avenge February's 2-1 defeat. With players not available through suspension Gaz will need to juggle his pack Sam Wood will drop back to left back and the impressive Billy Knott likely to start on the left of midfield with Josh and Matt Spring in the middle of the field leaving a right mid slot up for grabs for Arnold, Max longname and maybe Matty B, with five forwards Gaz may go for a 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 with Deano as the playmaker Craig and McClure up top hopefully leaving JP and Kuffour on the bench. After last weeks performance I'm hopeful for a good game and cheering the lads on to take all 3pts
Think i'd be happy with a point from this game. Just hope Kuffor or Pitman don't start. Doubt i'll come up for the game as it's my birthday bash at the local cider farm today and i'll be hungover for a couple of days,as i get older hangovers seem to get worse.
happy birthday mowgli, hope you enjoy (and remember!!!) it I think the logical solution to the line up would be one change - bring in matt spring for dunne, moving knott into left midfield, and I hope gaz will use this approach as oppose to trying to re-introduce kuffour or something stupid because deano and craig upfront worked perfectly well against poxford hoping for 3 points, but id take a draw COYB
Seems like we are doing well and I'm glad Max longname is getting a game (although I hope Josh is alright) as seen him a bit over the years and always been impressed. COYB
Getting nervous now, is it time to bring on JPP and try to hit them on the break? Do we really have no more defenders? None on the bench!!!
Cheers Ron and everyone else who wished me happy birthday. I knew i wouldn't makr the game after an all day session yesterday, typical i missed a good game but 3 points will do me.
Well done lads, that really is a cracking result and I think gives an indication that we will be safe (at the very least) this season. Just a few queries about today 1) pleased GA stuck with Deano and Craig, fingers crossed they can form a good partnership with McClure knocking on the door. 2) Odd that when Josh got injured he brought on Max and not Spring, don't get me wrong as I really rate Max and think he has so much potential but Spring has actually played this season and even Blooms came on rather than Spring, I admit he didn't have the best of seasons last term but reports were that he had pulled up his socks and was impressing. 3) Is Stewart injured? I was happy with our defensive cover at the beginning of the season but having no defenders on the bench (I know wood can drop back as can Arnold) is a bit worrying. 4) Very pleased that we have strength in depth up front (kuffour aside) as said above, Deano and Craig to start, McClure 1st back up JPP next and then Junior (who is getting some good practise on loan) and then if desperate Kuffour. Anyway great result and I feel GA is learning all the time. Happy times.
rather worryingly with deadline day looming I suspect hes off signing a contract somewhere... now the positives - strong performance from the team, good defensive display, morgan and craig looking like a proper strike partnership and the return of matty bloomfield is always good! as for spring, he doesn't offer the energy in midfield that gazs style of play is all about and perhaps he would be an option if we needed something different. as it was the team was working so kretz for scowen and blooms for Arnold makes sense
