Just out of curiosity, which would you choose?

    1. Winning a Cup and going straight back down

    or

    2. Getting knocked out in the first rounds and staying up?

Number 2 definitely , a cup run is exactly that, staying up means playing the best teams week in week out, and £50m to the club, its a no brainer

Thats the way I look at it, I'm sure even the Cardiff lads would agree but that doesn't stop shouting about the FA cup win they had in the 20's!

for a Premier League side (except the top 6) it must be no 2. Lower league sides only want a cup run to meet the big teams and we will be meeting them most weeks.

We had lots of debate going back in league 1 and the championship on whether to take the cups seriously , Martinez was heavily criticised for costing our club money, my and others argument was promotion was more important, now that we have been promoted to the premier league, league survival is more important!

We have progressed, and must consider whether the cup is more of a hindrance , and now we are up here teams in the lower leagues would hope to draw us ;)

The league has to be the priority, no doubt about it. Wouldn´t bet against us having a decent run in the League Cup though...

Looks pretty conclusive (Granted only 6 votes) but I think everyone would opt to stay up

It can only be one thing. STAY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE. Anyway we cant get knocked out in the first round of any cup because we dont come in to one in the second round and another in the third. so its staying up for me. F*ck the cups.

League is the only priority for me . It's going to be a bit weird if we get knocked out of a cup by a Championship or lower team & they go into the " We beat a Premier League team " , like we used to do hehe !

Obviously 2, but I don't think we should give up on the cup competitions. A good run can build confidence. It's not a stright choice between one or the other; we can have both. Suppose we were in a comfortable mid-table position, why would we not even try in the cup?
I think the question is flawed because football doesn't work that way. We could get knocked out in the first round of the cup and still get relegated.

I think there is a huge misconception that a good cup run somehow causes a team's relegation. The teams would probably have got relegated anyway, so a good cup run added something extra. Some teams who didn't do well in the cup also got relegated.

Our priorities have changed now, staying in the Premier League is much more important. The cup run will be a distraction. Funny how we say these things, when a couple of years ago we all wanted a good cup run. Give me the Premier League anyday!!!!

No doubt priority is Premier League survival, we've taken so long to get here, we have to give it our best shot....

But a wee little run in the Carling cup won't hurt, think of all the lower league clubs made up at the prospect of knocking a premier league team out. It would be a big game for example, for the likes of our 'cousins' if they were able to draw us. Also, gives us an opportunity to give our fringe players a run out......
