Toon striker up for sale Last Updated: Sun, 05 Jun 2011 13:06 Newcastle%20United Bolton and QPR are leading the race to sign Nile Ranger with the striker reportedly surplus to requirements at Newcastle United. According to reports in the north-east, Ranger is set to leave St James' Park this summer despite only signing a new five-year contract last year as boss Alan Pardew freshens up his squad for next season. The England under-20 international played a key role in helping Newcastle win promotion from the Championship but has had various disciplinary problems and Toon chiefs are understood to have told him a move away from the club would be the best thing for his career. Newcastle will seek a transfer fee in excess of £1million for the striker with Bolton and newly-promoted QPR both showing an initial interest, although neither club is understood to have made a formal offer yet.

Rangers boss Neil Warnock is keen to add some more Premier League experience to his squad and is weighing up a bid for the 28-year-old, reports the Daily Star Sunday. Eboue would cost QPR around £5 million, but that is within Warnock's budget after the newly-promoted club's owners agreed to back him in the transfer market. Another player on the Loftus Road side's radar is Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger. The 20-year-old was highly-rated at St James' Park, but struggled to come to terms with the challenge of Premier League football and failed to establish himself in the first team last season. According to the Sunday Sun, Ranger has now been told he is free to join any club prepared to meet Newcastle's £1 million valuation. Warnock is said to be confident he can help Ranger to reach his full potential and is considering offering the youngster the chance to return to his native London. Warnock wants more English players in his team. Look out for the signings of Armitage, Shanks and Twyford. (We did have a Shanks in the 70s, the great Don, but he 's Irish.)
Nosworthy was Sunderland's Player of the Year 4 years ago but has been on loan at the Blades so it would appear he's in decline.
