Celtic announce signing of Israeli midfielder Nir Biton on four-year deal STV 30 August 2013 11:49 BST Nir Biton has completed his move to Celtic from Israeli side FC Ashdod. The Israel Project Celtic have completed the signing of Israel international midfielder Nir Biton. The 21-year-old has signed a four-year deal, moving from FC Ashdod in a reported £700,000 transfer. Biton secured a work permit on Thursday to complete his move, having arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday ahead of his new club's UEFA Champions League play-off round tie with Shakhter Karagandy. Seen as a replacement for Victor Wanyama, who left for Southampton this summer, the player spent time training with Manchester City last year. He has been capped six times by his country. The player was quoted as telling the Daily Express on Tuesday that he was keen on a move to Celtic and had been sold on the move by Efe Ambrose, his former club team-mate. "Of course I would be interested in a move to a big European club like Celtic," he told the paper. "I know a bit about them because my friend Efe Ambrose moved there last year. "I have spoken to him quite a few times and he has told me that Celtic is a very good club and Scotland is a great place. "I know how big a club they are and it is flattering to be linked with a club like Celtic." Celtic are also expected to conclude the signing of Finnish striker Teemu Pukki on Friday from Schalke 04.

Had the window been open until Monday, Sevco would have been able to purchase new players in a 48-hour period instead of waiting until January - they'll be beeling over this, given all the players they had ready to sign for cash up front ...
700k looks a bargain, nice feet for a big ****, decent brain and decent shot.
Still no word on pukki? Was expecting it to be announced this morning. A fee has been agreed but they can't agree personal terms. Also looks like Tony Watt is heading out on loan to Aberdeen for a season. Are they forgetting we have Barcelona again?
And we may not be finished with the mega star signings. http://www.football-italia.net/38849/lazios-ciani-close-celtic
That would be a good move if it comes off. Emilio Arturo Izaguirre Girón certainly needs competition for that left back spot - he seems to be lacking in confidence and isn't taking on responsibility. His reading of high balls and opponents' runs into the box are worse than ever but competition for his place would, hopefully, spur him back to his old self.
